Thanks for stopping by Whisk Affair, a blog that I’ve grown with lots of love since 2012; and wanting to know more about me. I’m an Indian, highly aspirational and focussed on perfection. I love cooking, an art which I’ve learnt over last many years.
I was born to doctor parents in a small town called Banda in UP, India. Both my parents were serving as doctors for the State Government. I’m the eldest of three sisters (my younger sisters being Twins :-)). Right from my childhood, I was fond of food and learnt nuances of cooking from my mom and dad.
I studied to be a dental surgeon; and finished my degree in 2004.
While I initially started off my practice, I left it very soon to follow my passion into food. After getting married I lived in multiple countries including Malaysia, Czech Republic, USA and travelled extensively. Throughout these travels I got to experience different cuisines and learnt a lot about local foods in different parts of the world.

The blog started with me documenting a number of recipes I started to make. Every time it turned out perfect, I would write it down so I could make it again. I also shared my experiences with my friends and family.
My Son, Bhavye
I’ve one handsome son, Bhavye. He loves to play his piano and is inclined a lot towards innovation and sciences. He loves to keep going on with his projects and school work and recently published a 2D graphic library for Python called GoopyLib.
If you are interested look at some of Bhavye’s projects here.
He loves to try a number of international recipes and pushes me to keep cooking more!
My Husband, Mohit
I met my husband and got married to him in 2005. We both love food and he is also the prime taster for my recipes.
He has held multiple positions with leading companies across the globe, helping them scale. He is an expert at leading Digital Transformations. Read more about Mohit here.
He also guides me in the tech and financial side of maintaining Whisk Affair.
The Birth of Whisk Affair
After a lot of experiments, Whisk Affair took a much formal shape in 2012. I was happy that I could turn my passion into a profession. There have been number of learnings along with the way and I’ve loved every day of it.
Bringing out the taste and appeal in your cooking is all about having tried and tested recipes up your sleeve. I’ve has nurtured Whisk Affair since 2012 with a vision to help people experience food.
You would always find recipes on Whisk Affair which have been personally tried and tested by me. Whisk Affair’s recipes let’s you stand out from the crowd, always and let you not just taste food, but make an experience out of it!
Fall in love with your own cooking, use best of the ingredients that you believe in and bring that awesome taste.
Beyond Whisk Affair
Beyond food, I’m an avid traveler and love and explore around and try the local cuisines, a caring wife & mom and a loving host. I love to decorate my home and collect props for my photos.
I believe in the adage “pleasure in job brings perfection in work” and keeping my work organized gives me a lot of pleasure. I’m a fan of making lists of to-do’s which also helps me prioritize and complete my works on time.”
Over the course of last multiple years, I’ve also worked as recipe expert with many brands to bring best out of their recipes. I’ve served on the Panel of Saffola Fit Foodie, worked with start ups like Eat Fresh & Swiggy, India Food Network.
I work with a number of food and beverage brands developing new recipes for them and helping them launch and promote new products and ingredients and helping them reach out to my readers. Some of the key brands who I’ve worked with include Nestle, Kissan, Saffola (Marico), India Gate Rice, Sunfeast, Swiggy, Brooke Bond Red Label, Modicare, GoelD, Hamilton Beach, MTR, Big Bazaar, Betty Crocker, B Natural, India Food Network, Bonne Maman, Cavit Wines, Big Basket, Big Marble Farms Canada and many more.

Hi , hmmm I just wanted to ask you that
How much ajwain paratha should I eat????? Because I eat almost 2 parathas with some mango pickle as well ??? And I get acidity also , so please tell me the answer
Neha Mathur
There is no right or wrong answer to this. Listen to your body. If you are not feeling good after eating the parathas, then don’t eat them.

Hi! I just bought your cookbook and am looking forward to trying out the Mulligatawny Soup. I have a question about the curry leaves. Do I need to use fresh curry leaves, or can I use dried ones?
Neha Mathur
Hi, although fresh curry leaves gives the best taste, but you can use dried ones as well.

Went on Pinterest to find a tilapia recipe and picked your Lemon Garlic Tilapia out of all those listed. I have just eaten and had to tell you how much I enjoyed it. It seemed to be perfectly balanced. Will try more from your site even though I know nothing about Indian foods, I expect I may learn a lot.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your invaluable culinary knowledge. I had a question about the ‘flour’ used in curd to avoid separation in curries. What flour do you recommend?
Neha Mathur
Thanks 🙂 I generally use all purpose flour. You can add chickpea flour too.

I have tried many of your recipes, most recently the South Indian One Pot Sambar Rice recipe. I am a vegan and am very particular about the ingredients I use (no processed white flour, etc.). Your recipes are perfect. I never have to make any adjustments to them. Over the past six months, I have accumulated all of the ingredients that you use and fortunately, will rarely have to go out for groceries because I have the necessary summer produce (tomatoes, etc.) in the freezer. Thank you for the repeated taste testing that you do to ensure a recipe is top quality.
Neha Mathur
Thanks a lot for your kind words. Enjoy cooking!

Why aren’t there any Indian Christmas sweets recipes mentioned in the Christmas section??…. It’s under the heading of Indian festivals…but there isn’t one Indian Christmas sweet!! All the recipes in that section are mostly foreign country recipes.
Neha Mathur
I haven’t tried many Indian Christmas Sweets yet. Hopefully, this year.
