Bacon fried rice served in a bowl.

As you all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, make sure that it is filling, so that our family gets all that energy to start the day.

Now, there are many Breakfast dishes that you can make, be it Indian or Continental, but you get immense satisfaction when you can use leftovers and make your breakfast dish.

I am a person who hates to waste food and thus either I make sure that there is only enough quantity in the meals that it gets over then and there, or if there is leftover I get to use in my meals the next day.

And one of my go-to dishes to make from leftover rice is this Bacon fried Rice or Breakfast Fried Rice.

Now, some of you might feel weird to hear about a dish called Breakfast Fried Rice, right?

But let me clear all your doubts!

This recipe is indeed one of the most nutritious and filling breakfast to kickstart the day.

Loaded with bacon and eggs, this recipe turns out to be an interesting combination which you can savour any time of the day: be it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Many of us do not feel like having rice for the first meal of the day, however, in many South Asian countries, rice is considered to be a staple diet and it consumed for every meal.

Here are some more Fried Rice recipes, that you can try for your everyday meals – Schezwan Fried Rice, Thai Fried Rice, Thai Pineapple Fried Rice, Chinese Egg Fried Rice, and Chicken Fried Rice.

So, maybe if you haven’t tried by now, start with this recipe and I am sure everyone at home will love this for your weekday breakfast.

Close up shot of fried rice with bacon.

    What is Bacon Fried Rice?

It is a simple dish where cooked rice is mixed with sauteed onions, green onions, crispy bacon and scrambled eggs.

Easy and gets ready in just 15 minutes, It is also called as Breakfast Fried Rice.

As it has bacon as well as eggs, I feel that even if one has not had a proper meal throughout the day then this recipe kind of compensates all the lost nutrients.

Bacon particularly gives a strong flavour to this dish.

Also the onion greens, spring onions give a much-needed crunch and a refreshing taste.

Moreover, I love the fact that how soy sauce and vinegar enhances its deliciousness!

Quick to be packed in kiddo’s lunch box, this recipe just like Vegetable Hung Curd Sandwich helps me to kind of combat all the tantrums of my sunny boy.

Even I sneak a portion of it for myself and savour it like a queen when he goes away to school.

Why don’t you do the same? Prepare this finger-licking Fried Rice with Bacon for yourself someday and savour something new for a day, eh? Read its recipe:

    Serving Suggestions

You can serve this rice on its own for your breakfast.

If you want to serve it for your meal, you can serve it with any Asian or Indo Chinese Curry.

    Ingredients

Bacon – Use thin bacon which gets nice and crispy to add in the rice. You can even use ham if you have that.

Rice – You can use any variety of rice to make fried rice with bacon. White rice, brown rice everything words.

Make sure the rice is a day old as fresh rice will become mushy while sautéing.

Sesame Oil –  It gives a very typical Asian flavour to the dishes it is added to.

Feel free to use vegetable oil instead if you do not like the flavour of sesame oil.

I sometimes add chopped Garlic in this recipe too. It gives a delicious garlicky kick.

Sauces –  Soy sauce, rice vinegar etc are added to the rice too.

If you want your rice hot, you can add Schezwan Sauce or any hot sauce of your choice.

Variations of Fried Rice with Bacon

I like to add some kimchi to my bacon breakfast fried rice to give it a spicy kick.

You can also skip adding egg if you are not a big fan and make this rice without egg or instead of scrambling the eggs, you can top the rice with a sunny side up.

Try adding veggies like peas, mushroom, bell peppers, carrots, and beans, etc to make it healthier.

You can top the fried rice with sliced avocado.

I tried to give it a Hawaiian twist once by adding chopped pineapple to the rice and it turned out awesome too.

If you are looking to make a healthier version of this, make cauliflower Bacon Fried Rice and use cauliflower rice instead of white rice.

Make it garlicky by adding lots of minced garlic in the oil along with the onion.

You can also add other meat in this rice-like shredded chicken, shrimps etc.
