Café Noir, Orion Mall, Malleshwaram, Bangalore Review….
Orion Mall at Brigade Gateway is an absolute shoppers paradise. Right from the departmental stores to leading Indian and International brands selling everything from fashion, accessories, electronics, jewellery, toys along with many entertainment options line its multiple floors. On a recent trip towards west of Bangalore I experienced the grand appeal of Orion Mall. The mall also hosts a number of Restaurants and Café’s serving all sorts of cuisines.
Café Noir, Orion Mall, Malleshwaram, Bangalore Review
Café Noir had invited me to taste their new menu and I’d a wonderful time gorging on some of the finest French dishes served at this up market French restaurant. This all day dining place has a large terrace and along with a carefully selected music creates a perfect pleasant ambiance. Café Noir promotes a certain “French Art de Vivre” through choice of dishes suitable for breakfast to dinner. They are also working towards a Home Delivery model which will enable you to order the food through them at the comforts of your home.
I started off with appetizers including Hummus maison served with some delicious home made breads, Butter fried vegetables or Tempura de légumes which were super crispy and had just the right amount of fat, Quiche de Bresse with nicely blended chicken, mushroom & cheese and L’Atlantique a cold salmon dish served over specially baked multi grain bread. The appetizers were pretty authentic and great taste which sets you up for the further courses. The Salmon Tartine was my favourite for the day and would definitely go back to the restaurant for it.
For the main course I’d to try my hands on Ratatouille cooked with multitude or premium vegetables served with pilaf rice while I would definitely recommend Parmentier de Canard which is a baked Duck mixed with spinach served with an amazing scoop of mashed potatoes and fresh herbs. The dishes lived up to their French name and why not when Café Noir employs authentic French Chef’s. It is the only restaurant in Indian with two executive chefs who specialises in bakery and French Cuisine. Saumon grillé, a grilled salmon with a mix of Zucchini and roasted almonds is also a good choice to order. The kids can do well with La Gratineé, a dish of penne pasta served in seasonal vegetables sauce.
What’s a French meal without a few desserts and that too when Cafe Noir’s desserts are recognised as some of the best desserts in Bangalore? So definitely keep some space for the pastries and mousse. I tried the Fraisier Mousse a combination of almond mousse, vanilla mousse, strawberry jelly and joconde biscuits. Le Délice the perfectly made madeleines reminded me of my trip to Toulouse few years back. Another great choice is the sponge chocolate cake called Le Madame while Paris Brest with rich Praline flavored cream and roasted hazelnuts was made pretty well.
The service overall was perfect and the waiters gave ample personal space and attention. Would totally recommend Café Noir if you are looking for some authentic French food, best pace for some good food in a Café atmosphere. Orion mall is perfect for a family outing with shopping, entertainment and food all at one place. Enjoy!
