The biggest blessing in life is when you can give wings to your dreams and to top it all up, if your dreams actually come true. As a person myself who left a lucrative career in dentistry and decided to follow my dream and passion for food and start Whiskaffair, I so much relate to like minded people who are following their passion and empowering themselves and many others.
I also feel immensely proud of the people and organisations who value this effort and are always on the go, to do their part in bringing up such talent and showcasing their skills to the entire world.
Nestle Maggi is running the lovely initiative of celebrating women who have transformed their lives using their culinary skills. I could so much relate to the proud and empowering feeling that comes with all the effort making it totally worthwhile. For one of these events I was in Goa and the star of the event was Rita Shinde.
Born in Diu and brought up in Goa, Rita learnt intricacies of Goan cuisine from her mother, she furthered her love with hands-on in Portuguese, Italian & Oriental cuisines through interaction with family and friends. With motivation from her husband and children she gave up her career as a Customs Officer and took to her passion for cooking. Thus, was born ‘Rita’s Gourmet Goa’!
Goa serves as a unique destination where travelers from across the world come over to engage in different experiences. One such opportunity is to learn local Indian recipes, specially Goan cuisine. Rita imparts regular demonstration as well as hands-on Cookery Classes to the travelers visiting Goa.
Over the last 5 years Rita has grown to about 500 students each month including travelers and food experts. I so much relate to Rita to believe in herself, her passion and her venture. Rita’s Gourmet Goa has been awarded the “Certificate of Excellence” in the year 2015 by Trip Advisor.
Kitchen journeys is a great initiative by Nestle Maggi where they are celebrating the culinary journey of 12 women who have transformed their lives through their love for food and cooking. We spent the day tasting four great recipe by Rita followed by trying out her Goan Fish curry Recipe with other home cooks. Of course, these came out great with Maggi products like Bhuna Masala, Coconut Milk and tamarind paste.
Nestle have partnered with Zee Tv and they are featuring the series on the channel already. So do not forget to watch the exciting stories of these powerful ladies and get inspired 🙂
