Chicken Fried rice served in a bowl.

Whomsoever invented chicken fried rice was brilliant. The goodness of rice with protein-packed chicken is just what you need on a long, tiring day.

Also no wastage of food. You can stir up a dish in no time using leftover rice.

It is a win-win situation, as you are not wasting any food and you have a stunning dish as well.

This homemade fried rice with chicken is simple and easy to make. If you love Chinese takeout, then you need to give this a try for sure.

You will be surprised how good these rice taste.

    About This Recipe

Cooked rice sautéed with marinated chicken chunks and chopped vegetables are what chicken fried rice is.

It is a quick and easy weekday or weekend dinner/lunch which can be put together in no time.

It is easier to make it if you have leftover rice and even tastes better.

    Ingredients

To make this recipe, you will need very few ingredients

Chicken – I used chicken breast and boiled them until they were cooked properly. Then I shred them using a fork. You can also use a hand mixer to shred the cooked chicken breast.

Cornflour – Coating the shredded chicken in some cornflour and then frying it gives it a nice and crispy texture. I also added a little bit of soy sauce to the chicken before frying.

Sesame Oil – I fried the rice in sesame oil which gives it a very Asian flavor. You can, however, choose any oil that you like.

Egg – If you have ever ordered this Fried Rice from any Asian take away, You must have noticed that it always comes with scrambled eggs.

I have added eggs in this recipe as well. If you are not a big fan, you can always skip adding them.

Garlic – I love garlic in my Asian recipes and I  add a lot of it.

Spring Onion and Veggies – These add a nice crunch to the rice. You can choose to add your fav veggies in this rice. Mushroom, broccoli, sweet peas, zucchini, etc go well.

Sauces – Asian sauces like Soy sauce, Vinegar Red Chilli sauce, etc go in this recipe. Feel free to adjust the quantity of these according to your taste.

Rice – Use short-grain rice for a typical Asian style fried rice.

Also, make sure the rice is cooked well in advance and cooled properly before stir-frying. Day-old rice is the best.
