    I keep getting this question a lot of time, what is Crack Chicken? For all chicken lovers out there, it is a dish that is rich in flavors and everyone will relish biting into the budget-friendly dish.

    It is Keto Friendly, Low Carb, and easy to cook.

    This recipe can be cooked under high pressure in an instant pot or on low heat in a crockpot.

    Boneless chicken breasts cooked with all things good like cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, homemade ranch mix, and bacon, what’s not to like about it.

    This dish is called Crack Chicken because it is addictive and literally cracks you up when you eat it.

    It can be had a sandwich filling or as a dip. Toss some cooked pasta in it and you have a delicious dinner ready in no time.

    This rich, creamy dish is an instant hit among the keto lovers as it contains sour cream, cream cheese, and cheddar which is crucial in a Ketogenic diet.

    This dish has become my favorite low carb recipes to make on busy days. It can be made in a slow cooker, a simple pressure cooker, or an Instant Pot.

    • Perfect for everyday meals

    Ingredients

    Chicken – The key ingredient of this dish is Chicken, which is high in protein making it even better to include it your weekday meals.

    This Chicken dish is prepared using Boneless Chicken Breast, which is easily available and easy to get too. But you can even use Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs for the same.

    You can use Chicken tenders too, but at last, we will shred it so you are unnecessarily paying more for something which is not necessary.

    Chicken Broth – Chicken Broth adds an amazing flavor, but if you do not have the same you can even use vegetable stock.

    Cheese – This dish is creamy and cheesy and thus I have used the combination of cream cheese and cheddar cheese.

    Spices – To flavor it up, we will use some more ingredients such as onion powder, garlic powder, onion flakes, red chili flakes, salt, black pepper, and dried parsley.

    Toppings – Once this cheesy and creamy Chicken recipe is ready, top it with crispy bacon and scallion. It tastes delicious!

    Step by Step Recipe

    Put all the ingredients except bacon and scallion in the slow cooker.

    All the ingredients except bacon and scallion added in the crockpot.

    Mix everything together.

    Everything mixed well.

    Cover the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

    Cooked chicken.

    Once the chicken is cooked, take out the chicken breast on a plate.

    Using two forks, shred the chicken.

    Shredded chicken.

    Transfer the shredded chicken back in the slow cooker and mix everything well Top with crispy bacon and scallion. Serve as desired.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    How to make it in an Instant Pot?

    Add all the ingredients in the instant pot. Close the lid and PRESSURE COOK for 10 minutes. Remove the chicken breasts from the pot and shred them. Put them back in the pot and mix with the sauce.

    Can you eat it Cold?

    Serve it as you desire because the possibilities are endless.
    If there are leftovers from the previous night, you can club it in a sandwich or use it as a dip.

    However, you like you can gorge on the crack chicken and it will taste amazing.

    Can you make it with Canned Chicken?

    Yes, you can definitely use canned chicken, but then you do not cook it in the slow cooker. As it is already cooked, just mix it with other ingredients, add it into a casserole dish and bake at 350º Fahrenheit until the mixture is cooked properly.

    Can I use readymade Ranch Powder?

    If you are using readymade ranch powder, this low carb chicken dish is just a few ingredients and literally no effort.
    Add chicken, chicken broth, 3 tablespoon ranch powder, cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar cheese in the pot and cook as mentioned in the recipe.

    Serving Suggestions

    Wondering what to serve with crack chicken? This keto-friendly dish can be consumed in various ways and yet, it will be appetizing.

    It can be stuffed in a sandwich or, if one prefers low carb, then one can consume it with a bowl of salad or as a dip.

    You can toss some cooked pasta or rice in it to make a filling meal. For a low carb option, you can even serve it with Cauliflower Rice.

    Top your mashed potatoes with it or fill it inside baked potatoes. You can even serve it with Tortilla Chips or wrap in flour tortillas or lettuce wraps.

    It also makes a great filling for enchiladas and topping for pizza.

    Crack chicken casserole is also another variant of the recipe and is relished by all food lovers.

    To make it, mix crack chicken with some cooked pasta, veggies like broccoli mushroom, etc and transfer the mixture in a baking tray.

    Top with some grated cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and bread crumbs and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts.

    Topping Ideas 

    The crack chicken recipe is favorite amongst the keto as well the low carb followers. It is mostly topped with crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and scallion. 

    But you can be creative and top it with anything you fancy. I would go for sliced tomatoes, avocado, jalapeno peppers, olives, sautéed mushroom, the list is endless 🙂

    Storage Suggestions

    You can store it in an air tight container for upto 3 days, in the refrigerator.

    You can also freeze it in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a month.  While using it, allow it to defrost before reheating in a microwave.

    Ingredients
