Make mango daiquiri using fresh mangoes in summers when they are available in abundance or use frozen mangoes or canned mango puree to make it year-round.

Ingredients

This summer mango-based cocktail needs only a few ingredients – ripe mango, white rum, lemon juice, sugar syrup and ice cubes.

This cocktails turns out perfect only with ripe mangoes. While buying mangoes, select the bright orange coloured ones. Avoid the ones that has black and soft patches. While pressing, it should be a little soft and not very firm. If it is very firm, it might be a little raw.

The mango flavor is very strong so it easily subsides the alcohol flavor. So you can make it with a reasonably priced rum instead of an expensive one. This also means that be careful while sipping on this drink. Although you don’t taste the alcohol in it, you are still drinking it.

To make sugar syrup, add 1 cup sugar and ½ cup water to a pan. Cook for 6-8 minutes on medium heat until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is syrupy. Remove the pan from heat and let the syrup cool down. Refrigerate for 2-3 months and use as required.

You can adjust the amount of sugar syrup depending upon the sweetness of mangoes. You can completely avoid adding it if the mangoes are sweet enough.

Also use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best taste.

How to make Mango Daiquiri?

Start by preparing the mangoes. Choose 1-2 large ripe and juicy mangoes. Wash them with water and peel using a sharp paring knife. Cut the flesh away from the pit and discard the pit. Chop the flesh into small pieces. We will need 1 and ½ cups of peeled and chopped mangoes.

Freeze the cubed mangoes for 5-6 hours. You can choose to skip freezing the mangoes and make the daiquiri directly without freezing.

Note – You can also use store-bought frozen mangoes or canned mango puree to make this drink.

Add the mangoes, 4 fl oz white rum, ½ cup lemon juice, ¼ cup sugar syrup, and 1 cup crushed ice to the medium jar of a blender.

Whizz until everything comes together. Pour into 2 tall serving glasses. Garnish with mint leaves and serve immediately.

Notes

You can use freshly pureed mango instead of frozen to make this drink too.
Add a little orange liqueur like triple sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier for a profound citrusy flavor.
The mango flavor is so strong in mango daiquiri that you will not be able to taste the alcohol. So do not go for an expensive rum. This also means that be careful while sipping on this drink. Although you don’t taste the alcohol in it, you are still drinking it.
