Sipping on a delicious smoothie is just the perfect way to start your day and energize your body to take on the day ahead.

Today I’m posting a recipe for a healthy chocolate banana smoothie with the goodness of bananas and decadence of chocolate.

This combination of banana and chocolate tastes delicious and it has just the right amount of essential nutrients that will keep you feeling full for a longer time.

Bananas are a great source of dietary fibre, potassium and essential vitamins. So the next time you’re planning to whip up a quick breakfast, give this chocolate banana smoothie a try.

You can even substitute milk with any plant or nut milk of your choice to make it vegan friendly.

This decadent morning treat is made using simple readily available ingredients and it’s one drink that is super easy to make and super easy to have as well.

The use of drinking chocolate in the smoothie is going to get the kiddos excited and I’m sure this is one breakfast banana smoothie recipe that they are going to thoroughly enjoy.

It’s best to use ripened bananas as it gives a lovely natural sweetness to the smoothie.

This smoothie recipe also works as a brilliant evening snack, especially for the kids when they’re back from school and raiding the fridge for something to munch on.

Make a quick glass of this sweet smoothie and banish all those hunger pangs.

Smoothies are all about incorporating a host of different fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet, some of the other smoothie recipes you could try are: Mango Smoothie Bowl, Peach Mango Smoothie, Pumpkin Pie Smoothie and a refreshing Celery Smoothie.

Pair this delicious healthy chocolate and banana smoothie with Chocolate Chip Pound Cake, or Banana Bread Muffins for a yummy evening treat.

    This Recipe is

    Advantage of Chocolate

    • Improved insulin sensitivity
    • Give you healthier skin
    • Flavonoids in cocoa beans can combat diarrhea
    • One antioxidant found in cocoa may be effective in suppressing genes that trigger colon cancer cell growth.
    • Improves heart health by reducing LDL and lowering blood pressure.
    • Verbal and visual memory were significantly higher in subjects who consumed milk chocolate!

    How to make it

To make this healthy smoothie, it’s best to use frozen bananas as it gives a delicious, thick and creamy texture to the smoothie.

If you don’t have frozen bananas, you could use ripened bananas with ice cubes as well.

All the ingredients like yoghurt, low fat milk, drinking chocolate, peeled and cubed banana, honey and ice cubes are added into a blender and mixed until smooth.

The banana smoothie is then transferred into serving glasses and garnished with banana slices, chocolate curls and mint leaves.

This smoothie tastes best when served chilled. Instead of settling for a simple chocolate smoothie, it would be great to add banana for an added nutritious kick.

    Pro Tips

Make sure to freeze the banana a few hours before making the smoothie. Using frozen fruits makes the smoothie creamier and you don’t need ice to chill it.

You can also use greek yogurt to make the smoothie. It will be even more healthier and creamier

Use a good blender to make the smoothie. We don’t want chunks of fruits coming in your mouth.

To make this recipe Vegan, use any vegan milk like soy milk or almond milk and yogurt instead of regular milk and yogurt.

If as a vegan you do not eat honey as well, you can replace it with agave nectar, molasses, maple syrup etc.

You can add more ingredients and make a new variation every time. Some of the options are pineapple, banana, cherry and mango.

You can make other variations of this recipe by adding peanut butter, spinach, strawberry, avocado, coffee powder etc to it.

Replace the honey or sugar with stevia for low calorie drink.

You can also add protein powder of your choice to this smoothie.
