    About This Recipe

These refreshing Orange Pancakes are great as a wholesome breakfast and tastes great as an evening snack too.

To make this recipe, we are using a combination of whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour with the zesty goodness of orange juice and orange zest.

So the next time you’re craving for some healthy and nutrition-rich pancake, make these citrusy pancakes.

The use of orange juice and orange zest will give these pancakes a slight orange tinge that is going to taste beautiful once the pancakes are made.

Sometimes the use of butter and excess sugar can make pancakes extremely heavy as a breakfast dish, but this recipe goes light on the use of butter by replacing it with olive oil and there is very little sugar used, making these pancakes a healthier and light alternative to your regular pancakes.

Get your kids to help you in the kitchen with this Healthy Whole Wheat Orange Pancakes Recipe and they are going to have a blast of a time in the kitchen.

    These Orange Flavoured Pancakes are,

    Ingredients

    Orange Pancakes Ingredients.

Flour – Here, I have used the combination of whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour, to make it healthy. You can also make these pancakes with only all-purpose flour or with only whole wheat flour.

Orange Juice and Zest – The use of orange juice and orange zest will give these pancakes a slight orange tinge that is going to taste beautiful once the pancakes are made.

For a strong orange flavor, we are making use of grated orange zest as well.

Olive Oil – We often use melted butter to make pancakes, but here we are using olive oil for a healthy alternative. Olive Oil also makes these pancakes light.

Buttermilk – The use of the buttermilk in these pancakes makes them extra fluffy and soft.

Other ingredients – Other than the above-mentioned ingredients, we will also need egg, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and granulated sugar.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    How to make these Eggless?

You can use Mashed Bananas, Apple Sauce, Regular or Greek Yogurt, Flax Seed Eggs, Chia Seeds, etc in place of eggs in this recipe.

If you are using Apple Sauce, reduce the amount of sugar, as Apple Sauce is already very sweet.

How to make Ricotta Orange Pancakes?

To make Ricotta Orange Pancakes, just add in ¾ cup part-skim ricotta cheese in the Pancakes mixture and mix. All the ingredients and process of making Orange Pancakes will remain the same.

Can we use Lemon instead of Orange in this recipe?

Yes, if you can’t find oranges or if they are not in season, you can substitute Orange Juice and Zest with Lemon Juice and Zest.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve Orange Flavoured Pancakes with just Maple Syrup or Honey drizzled on top.

You can also add in some of your favorite chopped fruits such as banana, mango, kiwi, etc. Chopped dry fruits, seeds or granola can also be added on top.

To make it look even more appealing, top it with some whipped cream.

Or just spread some Nutella, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Syrup, Berry Sauce, Strawberry Compote, or even Caramel Syrup on top.

Do not forget to serve a hot cup of Beaten Coffee on the side.

    Storage Suggestions

Pancakes taste great when made fresh. You can instead prepare the Pancake batter night before and store it in an airtight container so that you just have to make Pancakes in the morning.

Having said that, you can easily freeze these pancakes. Make the pancakes and let them cool completely. Not freeze them in a freezer-safe container. When ready to serve, just thaw and reheat on a pan or microwave and serve with the choice of your toppings.
