Homemade Spiced Hot Cocoa Mix
on Nov 28, 2015, Updated Mar 21, 2020
The Homemade Spiced Hot Cocoa Mix is a lovely mix of flavors, with spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and vanilla lending it a unique flavor and taste.
This Hot Cocoa mix can be made and stored to be used at any time when required either as an addition to milk, or to make desserts like Mocha Hazelnut Brownies, Chocolate Banana Bread with Hazelnuts, and Oreo Brownies. Using both cocoa powder and bitter sweet chocolate gives the deepest, flavorful chocolate flavor, and when this is added to milk and cream, it really becomes addictive. Since it is homemade, other spices can even be added if there is a special preference. Hot chocolate milk is perfect for cold, windy days and make a great replacement for tea and other beverages.

Hello!
It’s only the end of July but my brain is already thinking about Christmas. This is a first! I love the idea of your Spiced Hot Cocoa Mix. I think it will make a wonderful addition to a home-
made gift basket I’m sending my son’s future mother and grandparent-in-laws.
Anyway, my question is, what is the typical cocoa mix to hot water ratio? Say, for a 12oz mug?
Thank you for your time!
Hi Becca, you can add 2-3 tsp of this mix per cup. Stir the mix with 2 tbsp water to make a smooth mixture. Then top up the mug with hot water.
Thank you for the wonderful recipes…can you please tell me what is bittersweet chocolate…we don’t get in small town…please tell me the recipe of bitterweet chocolate or any substitute for it…thank you.☺
Hello Ankita. You can use any chocolate. Dairy milk will also do. Make sure it’s firm.
