Frequently Asked Questions

How long to bake the Meatballs?

These baked meatballs need about 15 to 20 minutes to bake. Here, I have prepared medium-sized meatballs. If you are making it bigger, you will probably need more time in the oven.

How to make Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Meatballs?

If you want to make a slow cooker version of these meatballs, then in a big bowl, add together the garlic, onions, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, and red chili paste.

Add the meatballs and toss to cover with the sauce. Cook on low for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally.

Before 30 minutes, mix cornflour with water and add it in the sauce. Mix it well and let it cook for another 30 minutes.

Can we use any other meat to make Baked Balls?

Here, I have used chicken to make the meatballs, but you can also add mutton, pork, beef, or even turkey.

We don’t get the turkey in India easily, but if you somewhere outside India, you can try making these meatballs from Turkey. It tastes yummy!

Can we make this ahead of time?

I usually make these meatballs the night before, whenever I am planning to make it for a larger crowd.

I make the balls from the chicken mixture and keep them covered in the fridge until I am ready to bake them off the day of my event.

Once you bake them, it’s very easy to toss them in a delectable honey garlic sauce. You can actually call it an “Awesome Sauce”, yes its that yummmm!

What is the substitute of Bread Crumbs in this recipe?

You can add in grated zucchini or carrot, instead of bread crumbs. Squeeze out fully to remove the excess water, before adding to the mixture.

But personally, I would recommend you to add bread crumbs for the best results.

Storage Suggestions

These Meatballs without the sauce stays good in the refrigerator for about 4-5 days when stored in an airtight container.

Make the sauce fresh, when about to serve as it is very easy to make and hardly takes any time.

These homemade meatballs freezes beautifully. Once you bake the meatballs, let them come to room temperature and then freeze them in an air tight container or ziplock freezer bags.

Once you want to use them again, thaw them and let it come to room temperature. Add them into any gravy, you are planning to make.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these Honey Garlic Meatballs alone with Steamed Rice, Parsley and Black Pepper Rice or any other flavoured Continental Rice.

You can also serve it on the side with some simple Tossed Noodles. For a healthier option, serve it with Cauliflower Rice.

You can also insert some toothpicks in the meatballs and serve them as an appetiser on its own.
