Red Wine Vinaigrette is the simplest homemade dressing you can make for your salads. It is incredibly easy to make and very tasteful. Make your own Salad Dressing while the summer lasts with my recipe.

    vinaigrette served in a cup.

Summers are all about salads and they become delicious with the flavourful dressings that add a lot of taste to the rather boring salads.

I was never a salad person before, but as I have explored different dressings in the past few years, I have become a fan.

So if you see me relishing on countless salads during summers, don’t be surprised.

Actually, they are my favorite Summer meals, the days when I just want to eat something light, delicious, and healthy at the same time.

I have been making varieties of dressings to give my salads different flavor and the recent favorite is this Red Wine Vinaigrette.

Simple to make, this one will make your salad so delicious, that you will actually crave for more.

Earlier I used to buy dressings from the store, but I realized the fun of “make your own” or homemade dressings is unparalleled.

That way I can strike various combinations and rest assured of its purity as well.

Also, you can make it fresh every time you want to make a salad, whereas the store-bought ones are not fresh too.

Here are some more dressings from my blog, that you can use to flavor your salads – Homemade Italian Dressing, Lemon Garlic Salad Dressing, Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing, Basil Vinaigrette, Creamy Mango Salad Dressing, and Green Goddess Salad Dressing.

    What is Red Wine Vinaigrette?

It is a classic salad dressing with Red Wine Vinegar as the souring agent.

It is best to always have a versatile jar of dressings handy and this Vinaigrette Dressing is one of them.

While most of the dressings are very quick to whip up, this vinaigrette also gets ready in two minutes. Oh, yes and I am not bluffing at all.

This dressing goes with any salad that you have on your mind.

Most importantly, it turns the greens or any other salad beautifully flavorsome and lip-smacking.

After making it many times this year, I have realized that it is a classic dressing.

Therefore, I think all of you who love salads should always have a mason jar full of this dressing. Because, you never know when you crave for its lip-smacking-ness, no?

All in all, it makes your salads diverse in taste.

As it has salt and pepper, olive oil, dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, even a spoonful of this dressing will turn an average salad or sandwich into an extraordinary meal.

Furthermore, prepping it up is a child’s play.

Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl or shake them all up in a jar. Sorted. Your classic red wine dressing is ready to be used.

Smother fresh lettuce or sandwiches with it and enjoy its luscious flavors then?

My easy recipe will guide you to make it. Note it down?

    Ingredients

To make this oh-s-flavourful dressing, you will need just 8 ingredients – Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Dijon Mustard, Red Wine Vinegar, Garlic, Honey, Dried Oregano, Salt and Freshly Cracked Black Pepper.

If you like it to be spicy, you can even add some red chilli flakes in this dressing.

No matter what vegetables you use to make the base of your salad, this dressing will make them delicious and salads will definitely become your new favorite.

    Common Question about this Vinaigrette

    Does it have Alcohol?

At one time red wine and white wine vinegar were alcoholics.

At the beginning stage of the vinegar making process, the wine was used to make these tart liquids

However, through the process of adding vinegar mother to the mix and allowing the wine to ferment turns the alcohol into acetic acid and thus creating vinegar.

Once the wine has turned into acetic acid it is no longer alcoholic. The acetobacter known as the vinegar mother eats at the alcohol and turns it into the acid vital to creating vinegar.

Although there may be some traces of alcohol in the vinegar it is nothing to worry about.

The same traces of alcohol that are left in vinegar are also contained in foods like fruit juices or stewed fruit.

The trivial amount of alcohol that remains in vinegar is so low that you cannot be seriously affected by it, as if you consumed an alcoholic beverage.

    Is it healthy?

Red Wine Vinegar helps in weight loss and is a cure for various digestive ailments.

It is rich in antioxidants and improves the cholesterol profile.

Since it is a part of this vinaigrette, the vinaigrette also becomes healthy in nature.

    Is it Vegan?

Although the ingredients used to make Red Wine Vinegar are vegan, the process might involve some Non-Vegan elements.

It’s best to read the description on the cover of the bottle or contact the manufacturers to know if that particular brand is vegan or not.

What can I use in place of Red Wine Vinegar?

This recipe is based on red wine vinegar as the main ingredient but if you don’t have it, you can definitely replace it with white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or even rice vinegar.

But we will not call it Red Wine Vinaigrette if we are replacing the red wine vinegar with any other vinegar 🙂
