    About This Recipe

No matter how much you love canned black beans, there is no comparison when it comes to homemade.

These are much better in taste and texture than the canned ones. Canned beans are mushy, while the home-cooked black beans are firmer and you can customize it as per your preference.

It will be cheaper on your pocket. When you make your beans from scratch, you know what ingredients are being used. You are avoiding any unwanted additives or preservatives.

I love to make beans at home and the one that is made often these days are these No Soak Instant Pot Black Beans. While you can prepare them in a pan too, this Instant Pot recipe is fuss-free, hands-free, and quick.

These Black Beans are lightly flavored with garlic powder, bay leaf, and vegetable stock, giving it a nice subtle flavor.

These are easy to make, nutritious, full of fiber, and makes for a wholesome meal. You can use them in burritos, tacos, with rice or a salad. These easy black beans need no soaking and no draining too.

These Black Beans cooked in Instant Pot are,

    • Vegan
    • Quick & Easy
    • Full of Fibre
    • Versatile

    Ingredients

Black Beans – High in protein and full of fiber, these Black Beans are great to include in your meals. You do not have to soak it beforehand, to cook in an instant pot.

Garlic Powder – It adds a subtle flavor of garlic in these black beans, which adds a little sweeter and much less assertive taste than fresh garlic

Olive Oil – I have used olive oil, but you can even go for vegetable oil.

Bay Leaf – Bay Leaf adds a subtle yet delicious flavor in the black beans, which is discarded once the beans are cooked.

Vegetable Stock – Black Beans are cooked in vegetable stock, which has a taste of its own and it also adds to the taste of black beans.

But if you do not have vegetable stock, you can use the same amount of water instead.

    Step by Step Recipe

Wash the beans and add them in the Instant Pot.

Add olive oil, garlic powder, bay leaf, salt, and vegetable broth.

Olive oil, garlic powder, bay leaf, salt, and vegetable broth added in the pot.

Close the lid of the Instant Pot and bring the valve to the sealing position.

    Lid closed.

Press PRESSURE COOK and set the timer to 40 minutes. Time may vary slightly depending on the quality of beans. They generally get done in 35 minutes but sometimes need a minute a two more. So to be on the safer side, I now put the timer to 40 minutes.

    Timer set to 35 minutes.

It will take 10-15 minutes for the timer to start. Once the timer goes off, let the pressure release automatically for 20 minutes.

    Lid opened.

Open the lid of the Instant Pot and discard the bay leaf.

No stirring, no handling the beans while cooking. The beans cook evenly and you can control the texture you like.

Why are the beans pictured with greens? (celery leaf?) The recipe does not look like it would turn out the end result you showed pictured.
Could you provide the measurements for the seasonings in the variations you mention?
