Juicy and tender chicken breasts are loved by one and all! But, do you want to make it in one go? Hallelujah, because this recipe of Instant Pot Chicken Breast will help you out through and through!  Following Whole 30, Paleo or Keto diet? This Chicken Recipe will surely suit you as well, guys! Give it a quick read and try this dish at your earliest. Here is how to make Chicken Breast in Instant pot.

Instant Pot Chicken Breast served in a plate.

Recently, I have taken a great level of liking for Instant Pot. Why? Because, this cutesy, one touch pot has allowed me to get creative, save my time yet create scrumptious, perfectly cooked meals in one go that too under 30 minutes, unlike when I use a slow cooker.

Either by quick release or other functions, I have tried great recipes like Creamy Instant Pot Oatmeal, Instant Pot Brown Rice, Instant Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes and this week, I thought of trying one of my chicken breast recipes.

I have tried cooking the chicken with Homemade Peri Peri Sauce and have even made BBQ Chicken but at times you crave for something simple like cooking chicken breast or frozen chicken breast with salt and pepper or just basic herbs. That’s about it. Nothing comes to your rescue better than Instant Pot at that moment.

Serve this chicken with a Spicy Pineapple Sauce or use it in sandwiches or any other meal prep, it tastes absolutely amazing.

    How to cook Frozen Breast?

Frozen Chicken Breast in Instant Pot requires minimum preparation. Add all the ingredients mentioned in my recipe notes in the Instant Pot. Pressure cook it on timer for 10 minutes.

Let the steam build up. Then, once the timer ends, let the steam release and then open the lid. There you go, Frozen Chicken Breast is all prepped to be served.

Better than cooked on high, Instant Pot lets you brown the chicken to the T and the resulting chicken is juicy and moist. All you need to do is got your tongs, wait for all the steam to release and drool at the very sight of those tender, lip-smacking and freshly cooked chicken breasts!

You may also shred it or toss with Pasta or Rice and devour it all the more. For starters, here’s my recipe to get you going to the kitchen:

How long to cook Frozen Chicken?

You need to set a timer of 10 minutes in your IP to cook small boneless frozen chicken breast. The IP will take approximately 10 minutes to build up the steam before it starts. So basically you can look at 20-25 minutes from start to end.

If cooking fresh chicken, you can reduce the pressure cooking time to 8 minutes. The steam building time will remain the same.

The time to cook chicken breast depends on the size. Here is a simple guide for you:

    • Cook small (7-8 ounces per breast) breasts for 8 minutes.
    • Cook medium (10 ounces per breast) breasts for 10 minutes.
    • Cook large (12 ounces per breast) breasts for 11 minutes.

Increase the time by 2-4 minutes if using frozen breast of chicken. Also try to freeze them separately so that they aren’t stuck to each other when putting in the Instant Pot. This will make sure that they are cooked evenly from all the sides.

    Pro Tips

Use good quality Organic variety to make this recipe.

If the frozen breasts are stuck to each other, dip them in cold water for 2-3 minutes until they get separated from each other and then put them in the instant pot. This will make sure they cook evenly.

If using frozen chicken breast, pressure cook for 10 minutes and if cooking chicken breasts at room temperature, then cook for 6 minutes.

You can add the herbs and spices according to your liking.

Replace water with pineapple or orange juice for a different flavor.

You can also cook the breast in chicken stock.

Use this cooked chicken in salads, wraps, topping for pizza, in pasta or for sandwiches.

You can also shred this chicken. An easy way is to use a hand blender to do it.

What if the chicken has not cooked properly?

To cook properly, the temperature of the chicken must reach 165 Degrees F. I have always had cooked chicken using the mentioned timings, but incase your chicken breasts are extra large in size and did not cook properly, then pressure cook them for another 2-3 minutes.

    Variations

Combine ¼ cup chicken broth, ¼ cup honey, 2 teaspoon minced garlic, ¼ cup soy sauce, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add this sauce along with chicken breast in the Instant Pot and cook as mentioned below.

Once the chicken is cooked and the steam is released, open the lid. Press SAUTE mode and let the chicken warm up a bit. In the meanwhile, mix 2 teaspoon cornstarch in 1 tablespoon water to make a slurry. Add the slurry in the Instant Pot and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Put the lid of the Instant pot.

    Lid secured.

Set the valve to sealing. Press Pressure cook and set the timer to 10 minutes if using frozen breasts and 6 minutes if using the breasts at room temperature. It will take some time for the instant pot to build up the steam and start (Approx 10 minutes)

Timer is set to 10 minutes.

Once the timer ends, let the steam release on it’s own and then open the lid. Take out the chicken from the pot using a tong and use them as required.
