    About This Recipe

With the daily hectic schedules and very little time in hand to cook, Instant Pot has become the most used equipment in my kitchen. It makes cooking a breeze and since the cooking is hand-free, I can finish so much more work in this free time.

Mostly when I make Curries, which tastes delicious with Rice, this Instant Pot is my saviour. So, here is how to make Instant Pot Rice in minutes, which will come out fluffy and separate, just the way you like it.

Not only White Rice, with the Instant Pot, but I also make a variety of rice including Brown rice, Jasmine rice, and even some lightly spiced Pulaos in my kitchen and they go perfectly well with spicy curries poured over them.

I have been making rice over the stovetop for all these years, and although it turns out perfect every time I have to manage the heat while cooking it, especially in Summers.

Also, I have to constantly keep a watch on it and that means I am stuck in the kitchen to monitor it.

But with Instant Pot, all you have to do is add rice, water, salt, and ghee/oil in the pot, close the lid, press the buttons and voila, you are free until you are ready to eat. Yes, Instant pot even keeps it warm for you!

So, if you also have Instant Pot at home, here I will tell you how to make your everyday Rice in it.

    Frequently asked Questions:

Which variety of rice to cook in Instant Pot?

You can cook any variety of white or brown rice in Instant Pot. The amount of water used and the time required is different for white and brown rice though. I have tried cooking Basmati Rice, Jasmine Rice, and short-grain white rice and all of them turned out perfect.

I have a detailed post on how to cook brown rice in Instant Pot. Do check it out.

Why is my rice too sticky?

Cooking rice in Instant Pot requires much less water as compared to cooking it in a pot or a regular pressure cooker.

This is because Instant Pot traps the steams very efficiently. So be careful about the rice to water ratio while cooking the rice in Instant pot.

Can I increase the cook time and release the pressure manually?

When the pressure release naturally, the resultant rice grains are fluffy and separate as compared to mushy and sticky grains when the pressure is released manually. So be patient and give your rice those extra 10-15 minutes.

Should I rinse the rice before cooking?

Rinsing rice before cooking gives fluffier cooked rice. It removes some of the starch from the rice and the grains are separate and fluffy.

Also if there are any chemicals present in rice grains, you get rid of them by rinsing it well before cooking.

    Should I soak the rice?

You can soak it for 15 minutes before you add it to the instant pot. It helps the texture of the cooked rice get better.

    Process

Making rice in Instant Pot is of the easiest things that I have ever done in my life.

All you need is a cup of rice and water. Make sure to rinse the rice before using it as it gives you fluffy cooked rice later.

Add a little salt, lemon juice, and oil and then set the valve to sealing position. Set it up for 4 minutes and simply relax.

I recommend adding a little oil or ghee because it gives you great texture and keeps the grains unfolded.

The best part about making rice in Instant Pot is that you can double or triple the recipe very easily.

So now, cooking rice for a bunch of hungry souls is no more a task.

Make it in an instant pot and channelize all your energy into creating something you love to.

Don’t bother about the perfectly made fluffy rice anymore.

You can also make Brown Rice in Instant Pot. Do check my detailed post for the process.
