    About This Recipe

Oreo Brownies, as the name suggests itself, are thick and chocolaty brownies with the crunch from Oreo Biscuits. These are the best type of brownies! Soft, rich, thick, fudgy, and a crunch from the biscuits, this brownie has it all!

You just need 45 minutes to make a batch of these over-the-top delicious cookie and cream chocolate brownies.

You might have had this at your favorite dessert shop or at a cafe or at a restaurant and loved it at the first bite. So with this recipe, you can make them at home and I assure you that you will get even better brownies at home.

This is a very simple recipe where you just need 7 basic brownies ingredients and the showstopper, Oreo Cookies.

If you don’t prefer adding Oreo Cookies in the brownie, you can even add some nuts such as pecans, almonds, cashews for the crunch or just add marshmallows to make an Oreo and Marshmallow Brownie.

    This Oreo Brownies are,

    • A one-bowl dessert
    • Loaded with Oreos
    • Inexpensive
    • Crowd Pleaser
    • Perfect for birthday parties
    • Apt for a brunch dessert

    Ingredients

    Oreo Brownies Ingredients.

Oreo Cookies – The showstopper, in these Oreo Brownies. A few cookies are added into the batter and the remaining are used to top the batter.

Semi-Sweet Chocolate – This makes the brownies gooey and chocolaty. Always use good quality chocolate, for the best taste. The bad quality will just make your brownies taste funky. You can also use dark chocolate.

All-Purpose Flour – The base is made with all-purpose flour. You can use other flours too for healthy alternatives, but it will alter the taste and texture.

Vanilla Extract – For that slight hint of vanilla, which is a must in brownies and tea cakes.

Other Ingredients – Some of the basic brownies ingredients such as Unsalted Butter, Castor Sugar, and Eggs. These all ingredients when combined in the brownie batter gives you soft and fudgy brownies.

Each and every ingredient has its own role in making these oreo brownies perfect, therefore do not miss them or use their substitute.

    Step By Step Recipe

Line an 8 x 8-inch tray with parchment paper.

Baking tray lined with parchment paper

Break Oreo cookies into small pieces.

    Broken pieces of Oreo biscuits

Keep a few bigger pieces to place on top. Heat the oven to 180 degrees C. Heat butter and chocolate in a bowl till chocolate melts.

Heating butter and chocolate in a pan

    Remove from heat.

Melted mixture of butter and chocolate

Add sugar, vanilla extract and whisk till combined. Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes.

Sugar and Vanilla extract mixed in the pan with butter and chocolate

Add eggs, one at a time and mix well.

    Egg added to the pan

    Add flour and mix nicely.

    Flour mixed in the pan
    Ready batter for making brownies

Now add the crushed cookies in the batter (keep a few for placing on top).

Broken oreo biscuits added in the pan

Pour the batter in the prepared pan.

Brownies mixture in a baking tray

Top the batter with a few cookie pieces.

Oreo Biscuits over the brownies mixture in baking tray

Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely. Cut into square pieces. You can warm the brownie for a few seconds in a microwave before serving and also a scoop of vanilla ice cream is a great combination with these brownies.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What makes them fudgy?

The quantity of butter and chocolate in this recipe is more than the flour, which makes them less cake-like and fudgier. And therefore you will have gooey chocolate flavor burst in your mouth, as soon as you take a bite.

Can we use other Biscuits to make this Brownie?

Yes, you can use any other crunchy and chocolaty biscuit to make these Brownies.

How to make Oreo Brownies with Brownie Mix?

I will recommend you make these delicious brownies from scratch, but if you’re short on time or ingredients you can absolutely use your favorite brownie mix to make Oreo brownies.

Make the brownie batter following the package instructions. Add half of the broken biscuits in the batter and top the batter with the remaining ones. Bake and enjoy it.

Can we make it using Whole Wheat Flour?

For a healthier alternative, you can always opt for whole wheat flour rather than all purpose flour. The texture and taste are slightly different, but they do taste good.

But the ones with all purpose flour are a little softer as compared to the whole wheat flour ones.

    Oreo Brownie Variations

Oreo Flavours – Here, I have used the basic Oreo, but you can also use the different flavors of the Oreos available in the market such as Mint, Peanut Butter, etc, which adds a slightly different taste.

Chocolate Chips and Cocoa Powder – Instead of using semi-sweet milk chocolate, you can even use chocolate chips and cocoa powder to make these brownies. You can also go for other chocolate options such as white chocolate, dark chocolate, butterscotch, or even peanut butter chips.

Coffee – You can add in some instant coffee powder in the batter and mix, to get a slight coffee flavor in your Chocolaty brownies.

Eggless – You can substitute eggs with Apple Sauce, Flax Seed Eggs, Yogurt, or even Mashed Bananas. Adjust the amount of sugar, with the option you choose to use.

Also, the texture of the brownies might differ with the use of these substitutes.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve Oreo Brownies hot with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream for your weekend or part desserts. You can also prepare them and gift to your friends and family on Christmas, New Years, or any other special occasion.

I love to serve these brownies hot with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream or Chocolate Ice-cream, and this dessert is always a hit during my weekend meals.

These Brownies can also be served along with a glass of warm milk or with chilled milkshakes, my son really loves this combination.

    Storage Suggestions

You can store these delectable brownies in an airtight container for about one week in the fridge.

If you still have leftovers, don’t discard them. You can freeze them instead.

Just pack each brownie separately in a freezer bag and freeze them for about 2 months.

Whenever you want to serve them again, thaw these Oreo Brownies at room temperature for about 2 to 3 hours and then heat them again using a microwave.

    • Grease it.
    • Break oreo cookies into small pieces.
    • Keep a few bigger pieces to place on top.
    • Heat the oven to 350 Degrees F (180 Degrees C).

    • Cut into square pieces.
    • You can warm the brownie for a few seconds in a microwave before serving and also a scoop of vanilla ice cream is a great combination with these brownies.

    Notes

You can replace semi-sweet chocolate with dark chocolate if you wish.
Don’t over bake the brownies, if you like the gooey texture in between.
Let the brownies cool down properly, before slicing them.
Do not crush the Oreo biscuits, break them with your hands in relatively medium pieces.
Once your brownies are ready, let them cool down fully to room temperature, as they take a little time to set. If you simply cannot wait, just put the baking tray in the fridge for some time, slice it and enjoy it. This will fasten the cooling process.
You can also add chocolate chips or white chocolate chips in the batter for extra texture. The added chips will give you a crinkly top.
Once the baking time of 25-30 minutes is over, check on them, give the baking tray a shake, if they jiggle they need a little more time to get ready. If they don’t, they are ready.
Also do not over bake the brownies, it will make them hard and won’t taste good. They should be a little gooey from the middle.
Always use high-quality chocolate and do not forget vanilla extract to make these brownies.

Will these freeze? Or will they loose their crunch?

What is the white color running through some of these?

They will freeze. To reheat use an oven instead of a microwave. The white thing is the filling of the cookies 🙂

But I’m wondering,,,,,,I was exactly same amount of recipe , it came out a little bit too soft ….When I picked up that,
      kind a collapsed.
      Is that normal ?

You need to let it cool down a bit before cutting into pieces. It becomes perfectly firm after cooling.

It should not. The brownies might come out a little thinner though.
