Plums are in season these days and to enjoy them for a little longer, I made a preserve which can be stored in refrigerator for about a month and can be relished with crackers, or as a side with the Indian meals or even as a glaze for grilled meat. The chutney sounds great even with the name, the taste comes out just perfect and everyone enjoys eating it. The recipe is simple. Just take care of the jar in which you will store the chutney. It should be properly cleaned and dried. Plum Chutney is a very nice way of making your kids eat more of this healthy fruits. I remember, during childhood I did not eat plums, but my mom was smart enough to make this delicious Plum Chutney and make me savour it. I being so innocent, used to eat Plum Chutney without even realizing that it was full of plums!

- Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
- Kalaungi – ½ tsp
- Garlic cloves – 5-6 (chopped)
- Ginger – 1 inch pieces (grated)
- Plums – ½ kg
- Brown sugar – 2 tbsp
- White sugar – 4-6 tbsp
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Black salt – ½ tsp
- Red chili powder – ¼ tsp
- Heat oil in a pan.
- When the oil is hot, add kalaungiand ginger.
- Fry for a minute.
- Now add all the remaining ingredients with half cup of water.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes.
- Keep stirring in between.
- Store in a clean container in refrigerator.
- It can be stored for about a month in refrigerator.
