It is literally every week or other when I’m at the Pizza hut enjoying their extensive menu which is much more than pizzas offered at great price. We all love Italian as a family and Pizza hut is our favorite Italian hub and apart from their wonderful Pizzas, we also love the other dishes present on the menu. When I received a Friday evening invite for the bloggers table at Pizza hut, I just could not resist and meeting Pizza Hut head Chef Arjyo Banerjee and Luca Ciano, Executive Chef of Barilla Pasta was the added bonus, and so decided to brave out the Friday evening traffic and there I was. I’m so glad that I did not miss this truly amazing experience .
The event was held at Signature Mall, C V Raman nagar and had a specially created menu of the day. It showcased Pizza Hut’s latest range of dishes which are inspired by the two chefs. Chef Arjoy and chef Luca took an exclusive and much fun filled master class for the guests on how to cook perfect Italian pasta and gave us lots of tips and tricks.
The evening started with some light talk and beverages and I chose to order a Ginger lime Cooler. It was the perfect drink for me to sip through the evening. Cool and refreshing with a slight tang, though some felt it a little towards sweeter side. The sipping cheesecake drink was delicious but I would rather prefer it for dessert as it was a little too thick and sweet for me.
The appetizers had option for both vegetarians and Non vegetarians. There were crispy veg patties, garlic and Parmesan potato wedges and onion rings for the vegetarians and chicken topped crispies, jerk chicken skewers and kibbeh for the Non vegetarians. Both the platters were served with the delicious dips. The appetizers were crispy and crunchy and perfect to nibble on while waiting for your main course to arrive.
While we enjoyed the demonstration given by Chef Arjoy and Chef Luca and learned a few tips and tricks to make the perfect pasta, we were served two of the signature pizzas from the menu. Flame grilled chicken with veggies and roasted bell peppers, arugula and Parmesan. The vegetarian pizza was much appreciated by all on the table and won hand down in terms of flavor and texture.
The two chefs whipped up the delicious pasta dishes and as per my regular preference I just loved fusilli in a tomato-cream sauce with loads of stir-fried vegetables. The other pasta dishes were also delicious and the toppings were really interesting, like caponata and eggplant topped penne, lasagna with minced chicken and spaghetti salad with marinated and sliced prawns. An excellent and mouth watering selection over all.
For the dessert there is nothing better than a sinful chocolate cake with over flowing chocolate sauce. I’ve totally become a fan of this dessert from Pizza Hut.
The cooking demo from the two brilliant chefs worked its magic with all of us. I specially liked the cultural sensitivity of Chef Luca who being from Italy was making sure that the dishes were well suited to the Indian palate. It was interesting to know the origins of so many of my favorite ingredients while I’ll long remember the pasta cooking techniques from the chefs.I would also call out the exceptional wait service from Pizza hut making sure each one of us was taken care of.
Last but not at all the least the pleasant surprise of the goodie bag had me in all smiles. I just loved the gesture and personal attention.
