Although the central business district in Bangalore is almost filled with restaurants serving many different cuisines, there are certain streets which have been longing for this for quite a while. Red Onion brings a much needed fine dining experience to Shantinagar area in Bangalore. Tucked nicely on the double road, towards the mission road junction, it is set to cater to residential and office population with Afgani, Indian and Chinese cuisines. Set up in a contemporary style with a rustic ambiance, it gave enough personal space for the diners. The signature dishes have been carefully crafted by the chefs and served with equally matching personalized service. I got to review the delicacies on a lazy Sunday afternoon and loved each of the creations.
Chicken Momos were served on kid’s demand and the filling was perfectly flavored with a delicate mix of herbs.
Next up was RAUNAQ A SEEKH, mutton seekh kebab flavored with chef’s secret masala.
Nutty Malai Murgh was my favorite of the day and I must say that I have not had such melt in your mouth Chicken malai tikka off late any where. This dish was the star of the day and if you are a non vegetarian, you must definitely try it out.
Honey sesame chicken
Another favorite of the day was this Junglee Murgh Ke shole which is basically Chicken breasts stuffed with chicken mince and eggs and marinated with spices. The dish was served on a sizzler and is also a must try when visiting the restaurant.
Restaurant also has a huge Chinese menu and all the dishes served were made keeping the Indian taste in mind .
For the main course, chef recommended us to taste Nalli Nihari which they said they are very proud of and the dish very well kept up to the expectations. Mutton was well cooked and the gravy was just right to be had with a side of Naan. We also tasted Kadai paneer Afgani ( the regular kadai paneer with a little twist ) and Balti murgh which keeping up to it’s name was served in a cute little bucket.
A good meal should always end with perfect desserts and so it did. Shahi tukda, tarts filled with fruit cream and a few more Indian desserts on the menu made the meal a memorable one.
At the end, there is a surprise as well!!! Head to Red Onion to know more 🙂
