Restaurant week in Bangalore is here again. Restaurant week is being hosted in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai presented by OLA Prime. Yesterday a special preview was arranged for me at one of my favorite restaurant of all times, Blue Ginger at Taj West End, Bangalore. You can choose to book one of the 28 participating premium restaurants for a fixed 3 course menu for a steal away price of INR 900++ for lunch and INR 1100++ for dinner. The restaurants includes brands from Taj, Oberoi, Zuri, Lalit Ashok and many more.
OLA Prime is a perfect partner for the restaurant week combining its prime services with premier class restaurants. The OLA Prime cars are specially chosen and kept spic and span with trained drivers. You are offered free services like water and napkins on board along with a free wifi. It is perfect for business and leisure travelers alike.
Restaurant week in Bangalore
I was picked up from my home in a classy Innova and got to experience a long ride, all thanks to Bangalore traffic. The long ride didn’t really seem that long as I was able to work through the journey with free wifi. Having water on board is really thoughtful, specially in this hot weather.
The food at Blue Ginger was as expected curated to perfection. The menu has been carefully selected and comes both in veg and non-veg varieties. I obviously went for non-veg and started with hot & spicy Chicken Lemon Grass Soup. Even in the hot weather I loved this hot & spicy soup given the cool ambiance amongst lot of greenery and flowing water.
The appetizers included Raw Mango Salad, Rice Paper Roll with Grilled Chicken, Hanoi styled Grilled Fish and the signature appetizer, Grilled Lamb Chop with Sesame Barbeque Sauce. For me the lamb chop just stood out with the meat cooked well done.
I love the concept of palate cleanser as it takes off the strong flavours of a course and lets you review the next one with a perfectly clean palate. The lemongrass sorbet just did that for me.
The main course included Stir Fried Lamb with Basil, Vietnamese Fish Red Curry, Asian Greens & Wok Tossed Chicken in lemongrass Chili. It is served along with Steamed Jasmine Rice and Slices of Baguette. Well if you are wondering why Baguette in a Vietnamese restaurant, it is because of the French colonization, that most restaurants in Vietnam serve Baguette. To make it authentic, Blue Ginger follows the tradition. Fish Red Curry was the most perfect of all, closely followed by Chicken.
To end the meal, I’d Jelly & Fresh Fruit with Coconut Cream along with Lemon Grass Ice Cream, again one of my favorites.
The meal at Blue Ginger is always special and so it was this time, equally accentuated by the chauffeur driven ride in OLA Prime. So book your favorite restaurant quickly as the seats are fast filling away. The booking can be done here. The restaurant week this time runs from 22nd April until 1st May 2016.
