Ingredients

This recipe uses just 4 ingredients – Sugar, Unsalted Butter, Heavy Cream, and Sea Salt.
You can even use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar to make this sauce. It’s sweet, sticky, buttery because of the caramelized sugar and butter used. Use only unsalted butter for this one.
Heavy Cream is added in the end, which adds a nice creaminess to this sauce. You can also add milk instead of cream, but cream gives it a nice rich taste.
Sea Salt is added for that much needed saltiness in the creamy sweet caramel Sauce.
Step By Step Recipe
Heat the sugar in a pan over medium heat.

Whisk it when it starts to melt.

Keep whisking till the sugar has melted and then remove the whisk.

Now just swirl the pan and cook the sugar till it is deep amber in color. This is the most important step. Sugar can burn in just a few seconds, so take extra care.

If you have a candy thermometer, cook the sugar till it reaches 320 degrees F (160 degrees C). This temperature is important. Sugar mixture should not go beyond this temperature otherwise it will burn.

When the mixture has reached the desired color and temperature, add the butter and whisk until it is combined.

Remove the pan from heat and add the cream slowly.

Whisk till combined and the caramel is smooth. Add the salt and mix well.

Cool the caramel sauce and store in a jar.
