This delicious pink summer drink can be enjo**yed** first thing in the morning to kick-start your day or in the evening when hunger strikes. Kids especially love it as an after-school snack.

This recipe is** vegetarian and gluten-free.** You can make it vegan, too.

## Ingredients

![Strawberry lassi ingredients.](https://www.whiskaffair.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Strawberry-Lassi-Ingredients.jpg)

- **Strawberries** - This drink can be made using fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries. If using fresh berries, choose red, juicy strawberries and avoid those with soft patches or black marks. Also, do not choose light-colored strawberries, as they are often too tangy and not sweet. If using frozen strawberries, then there is no need to thaw them before using them. Just add a few to the blender with the other ingredients. In the summer, when the berries are in season and very cheap, you can freeze them and use them throughout the year. Here is [How To Freeze Strawberries](https://www.whiskaffair.com/how-to-freeze-strawberries/) at home. You can also buy them in bulk from Costco to save some money.

- **Yogurt **- I like to use plain full-fat yogurt (dahi, curd) to make strawberry lassi, as it makes the drink very creamy. You can also use Greek yogurt or low-fat yogurt. Strawberry-flavored yogurt also works great.

- **Milk **- Add a little milk to thin** **the lassi. I like to use whole milk (full-fat milk), but you can use skim or low-fat milk too.

- **Sweetener** - Sugar is the traditional sweetener for lassi, but you can replace it with honey, maple syrup, agave syrup, or another sweetener of your choice. Sugar-free substitutes like stevia and monk fruit also work fine.

- **Flavoring** - I used cardamom powder to flavor the lassi. You can also add 1/2 tsp of rose water.

To make the lassi extra creamy, replace half of the yogurt with half-and-half or low-fat cream.

## How To Make Strawberry Lassi

**Step 1:** Wash 300 g of fresh strawberries and wipe them using a kitchen cloth. Chop off the top leafy part and cut the strawberry into small pieces. Add the chopped strawberries to a blender.

If using frozen strawberries, then use them directly. If your blender is not powerful, thaw the frozen strawberries for 10 minutes to make blending easier.

**Step 2:** Blend until smooth.

**Step 3:** Add the following ingredients to the blender and blend well.

- 2 cups chilled plain yogurt

- ¼ cup chilled milk

- 2 tablespoons sugar

- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom

If the lassi is too thick for your liking, add some milk and blend again. I like it thick, creamy, and pourable, similar to a drinkable yogurt or light smoothie. Check for sugar and add more if required.

**Step 4:** Pour the lassi into two tall glasses and serve chilled. You can add a few ice cubes to each glass, too.
