    About This Recipe

Turmeric Latte also referred to as “Golden Milk” or “Golden Sunshine” is a hot beverage where the milk is spiced with ground turmeric, cinnamon, and nutmeg. To make it a little sweet, I have added honey, but you can skip it too.

You can even add in some ground black pepper, for that little hint of spice in the Latte.

This golden colored drink is so comforting that it will instantly perk you up on a dull day. It is also very satisfying to sip on during cold days.

Turmeric Latte has many health benefits such as it improves immunity, supports the liver, helps treat cold and cough, supports digestion, purifies the blood, and also helps in the treatment of autoimmune diseases.

It is filled with the goodness of turmeric, which is considered a great Ayurvedic medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Here, I am preparing it with organic turmeric powder, but you can also prepare it with fresh turmeric, which is mostly available in Winter.

    This Ayurvedic Drink is

    • Creamy
    • Healthy
    • Anti – Inflammatory
    • Inexpensive
    • Delicious
    • Soothing

    Ingredients

    Turmeric Latte Ingredients.

Milk – A great source of calcium, milk is used in our everyday beverages and here also, we will use milk to make this turmeric drink. You can use full cream milk, skim milk, or even low fat milk.

For dairy free version, you can even use plant based milk like almond milk, soy milk or cashew milk instead of dairy milk.

Turmeric – Here, I have used organic turmeric powder, but you can even use fresh turmeric.

Honey – For sweetener, I have used honey, which is really good to calm down a sore throat. You can use Maple Syrup, Sugar, or Jaggery instead of Honey.

Other Ingredients – Cinnamon and Nutmeg, not only gives it a nice flavor but an aroma too. Plus they have a lot of health benefits.

You can also add in some vanilla extract, for a delicious subtle hint of vanilla.

Some people even add ginger, which is considered extremely good for the throat. So if you have a cold, then do include fresh grated ginger or ginger powder in this drink. You can also make my Golden Paste and use it in this drink.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How to make Iced Turmeric Latte?

To make an Iced Latte with Turmeric, just mix all the ingredients in a bottle or shaker, i.e milk, ground turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey. You can even add a little vanilla extract in the Iced Latte, it adds a nice flavor to it.

Next, add in ice cubes in the glass, pour the turmeric milk mixture and serve. You can also add crushed ice in the glass instead of ice cubes.

How to make it with fresh turmeric?

If you have fresh turmeric available, you just have to peel and grate the turmeric and mix it with the milk while boiling. Make sure you add a little amount because it’s very strong in taste and flavor.

Once the milk is boiled with turmeric, add in other ingredients i.e cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey. Mix well and serve.

    Can I re heat it?

Since we have added honey in the drink, it is not recommended to heat it as it will lose some of its health benefits. But if you still have some leftovers, you can reheat it.

    How to make it vegan?

You can even use Almond Milk or Soy Milk for a vegan option. Even coconut milk works great. You can also use a combination of Almond Milk and Coconut Milk for this latte.

Also, use other sweetener options instead of honey in this fresh Ayurvedic drink.

    Does Turmeric Latte has coffee?

Latte is popularly a coffee’s name, but this one has no coffee. This is prepared using a mixture of warming spices along with turmeric which is mixed in milk.

    Storage Suggestions

This drink stays good in an airtight container for about 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator. Just make sure to mix the drink well before consuming it.
