Ven Pongal

STEP 1

Dry roast the dal in a pressure cooker until it is slightly fragrant.

STEP 2

Add the rice in the pressure cooker and wash the dal and rice.

STEP 3

Add 4 cups of water, ginger and salt, and pressure cook till done.

STEP 4

Remove the pressure cooker from heat and let the pressure release.

STEP 5

Heat ghee in a pan for tadka. Add cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, green chillies and peppercorns

STEP 6

Pour the tadka over the pongal and give it a mix. Serve hot.
