Wash fresh turmeric and peel it using a butter knife or a spoon.
STEP 1

Grate the turmeric using the medium hole of a box grater.
STEP 2

Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat.
STEP 3

Once the ghee is hot, add green cardamoms, cloves, and cinnamon stick and saute for 3-4 seconds.

Add cumin seeds,asafetida (hing), green chilies (slit into half), garlic and ginger and fry for 4-5 seconds.

Add grated turmeric to the pan and saute for 10-15 minutes until the turmeric is softened.

Once the turmeric is softened, add yogurt, Kashmiri red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala powder to the pan and mix well.

Cook for 3-4 minutes on low heat and keep stirring frequently to avoid the yogurt from curdling.

Add salt and green peas to the pan and mix well.
STEP 9
Swipe Up
Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 3-4 minutes if using frozen peas and 10-12 minutes if using fresh peas.
STEP 10

Remove the lid. Check for salt and add more if needed. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
