  • 6-8 Bread Slices Cut diagonally into triangles
  • 1 cup Besan/Chickpea flour
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Green Chilli Finely Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander Finely Chopped
  • 1 tsp Ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Oil For Frying


  1. Mix all the ingredients except bread slices in a bowl.

  2. Add water and make a batter.

  3. Batter should be just thin enough to coat the back of a spoon.

  4. Heat oil for frying.

  5. Once the oil is hot, simmer the heat to medium low.

  6. Dip the bread slices in the batter and drop them in hot oil.

  7. Deep fry until golden brown from both the sides.

  8. Drain on a tissue lined plate.

  9. Serve hot with coriander chutney.

  10. Do not over crowd the pan while frying the pakora.

Recipe Notes

The consistency of the batter is very important to make good bread pakora. It should neither be too thick or too thin.

Fry the bread pakora on medium heat.

You can cut the bread slices into squares a well.
