Ingredients

  • 200 g Dhuli Moong Ki Dal
  • 2 tsp Besan
  • 2 tbsp Curd
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pouch ENO

For the Tadka

  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 15-20 Curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 Green chilli Slit into half

Instructions

  1. Wash the moong dal and soak in enough water for 3-4 hours.
  2. Drain the water and grind the moong dal to make a fine paste.
  3. Use little water if required.
  4. The batter should be pouring in consistency like dosa batter. ( The consistency of the batter is very important to make perfect Dhokla )
  5. Add besan and curd and mix well.
  6. Cover the dal mixture and keep aside for 2-3 hours.
  7. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well.

  8. Grease a Dhokla pan and keep water for boiling in the pan.
  9. Add ENO in the batter and mix well.
  10. Pour the batter in the greased Dhokla pan and steam for 15-20 minutes until done.
  11. Let the dhokla rest for 15 minutes in the pan and then remove it from the pan.

  12. Cut the dhokla in cubes.
  13. For the tadka, heat oil in a pan.
  14. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and curry leaves and let them crackle for a few seconds.
  15. Add water, salt, sugar, lemon juice and green chilli in the tadka and bring the mixture to a boil.
  16. Pour the tadka over the Dhokla.
  17. Serve hot with coriander and mint chutney.
