These Instant Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes are the best ever homemade mashed potatoes and they take all of 20 minutes from start to finish.
Wash the potatoes and peel them. Cut them in equal size cubes.
Add them in the instant pot with garlic, salt and water.
Put the lid on top of the instant pot and close it well.
Press the manual button and set the timer for 12 minutes.
Release the steam once the time is over and instant pot starts to beep.
Open the lid.
Mash the potatoes using a potato masher.
Add olive oil, butter, sour cream and cream cheese in the potatoes and mix well until the potatoes are smooth and creamy.
Garnish with parsley or chives.
Use the potatoes that are starchy. They will make the best mashed potatoes.
You can add some milk if the potatoes looks dry.
If you want a strong garlic flavour, you can saute some smashed garlic cloves in butter and olive oil until they are slightly browned and then add this butter in the pot.
You can also use herbs like rosemary or thyme to flavour your mashed potatoes.
To make these potatoes more creamy and cheesy, add 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese.
Adjust the salt and seasoning according to your taste preference.
