Cumin Powder or ground cumin (also known as Jeera Powder) is made by powdering dry roasted cumin seeds in a grinder.

  • 1 cup Cumin Seeds

  1. Dry roast the cumin seeds until they become fragrant and dark brown in colour.

  2. Remove the pan from heat and let the seeds cool down.

  3. Transfer the seeds in a grinder and grind to make smooth powder.

  4. Store the powder in a glass jar for up to a month.

Recipe Notes

Always roast the cumin seeds on medium low heat otherwise they will burn and the taste will not be too good.

Keep stirring the seeds continuously while roasting.

Grind the seeds only when they are cooled.

Store the powder in an airtight container for upto 6 months in a cool dry place.
