Ingredients

  • 2 cups Brown Rice
  • 2 and 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and drain the excess water.

  2. Add the rice in the pot of the Instant Pot.

  3. Add water and salt and close the lid of the instant pot.

  4. Press pressure cooker and set the timer to 20 minutes. Make sure the valve is on sealing.

  5. Instant pot will take some time ( Approx 10 Minutes) to build the steam and then it will start the cooking process.

  6. Once the cooking time is complete, let the steam release on it’s own for 5 minutes. Release the excess pressure by turning the valve to release.

  7. Remove the lid and fluff the rice gently.

  8. Serve hot.

Recipe Notes

Make sure to rinse the rice before cooking. It makes the rice more fluffier.

In place of water, you can use vegetable or chicken broth to cook your brown rice. It will be more flavourful.

You can add some butter and press SAUTE mode in your IP. Saute the rice in butter for 5 minutes before adding the liquid and then close the lid. The rice will have more earthy flavour.

Cooking rice in Instant Pot requires much less water than cooking it over stove top or in a rice cooker. So stick to the measurements given below.

You can double the recipe easily and freeze the leftover rice for up to 15 days. Just thaw it and microwave it before using again.
