Cucumber Buttermilk is a family favourite and my kid loves it when I make it for him. Requiring just a few ingredients, it is a great cooler. Here is how to make it.



  • 2 cups Fresh curd
  • 2-3 cups Water
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger Julienned
  • 1/2 tsp Green chilli Finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Cucumber Cut into small pieces
  • Salt to taste
  • Ice cubes

For tempering

  • 1 tsp Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 10-12 Curry leaves


  1. Whisk curd in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add water, ginger, green chilli, cucumber and salt in the curd and mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them crackle for a few seconds.
  5. Add curry leaves and fry for a few seconds.
  6. Pour the tempering over the buttermilk and mix well.
  7. Add ice cubes in glasses and pour the buttermilk on top.
  8. Serve chilled.
