Ingredients

  • 2 Navel Orange
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Castor Sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges and pat them dry.

  2. Remove the skin from the oranges.
  3. Remove any pith or pulp that is attached to the skin and cut into thin stripes.

  4. Add the stripes in a pan and cover with cold water.
  5. Bring it to a boil.
  6. Simmer the heat for 2 minutes.
  7. Strain and discard the water.
  8. Repeat the process 2 more times.
  9. Heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a pan.
  10. When it comes to a boil, reduce the heat and let it cook for 5-6 minutes.
  11. Add the orange peel.
  12. Cook for 40-45 minutes till the peel turns translucent.
  13. Do not stir during this process otherwise their will be crystallization.
  14. Strain the syrup and store it for future use. ( iced tea or any other drink )
  15. Roll the peel in castor sugar.
  16. Arrange on a wire rack and let dry for 6-8 hours.
  17. Store in an airtight container.
