This creamy Strawberry Banana Milkshake is a delicious breakfast treat made with fresh or frozen strawberries. It can be made with or without ice cream.
1poundstrawberries500 g, rinsed, hulled, chopped, and frozen
2largeripe bananaspeeled, sliced and frozen
2tablespoonsgranulated white sugar
2cupsstrawberry ice cream7 0z or 200 g, or vanilla ice cream
2cupswhole milk (full-fat milk)
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Freeze the serving glasses for an hour (optional). It will keep your shake cool for a longer time.
Add the frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, sugar, strawberry ice cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract to the large jar of a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
Note – If the frozen fruits and ice cream are too hard, just leave them on the kitchen counter for 10 minutes before blending.
If the shake is thick for your liking, add some more milk to thin it down.
Check for sugar and add if required.
Pour the milkshake into chilled glasses and serve immediately. You can top the shake with strawberry halves, chocolate shavings, strawberry syrup, chocolate sauce, or whipped cream.
Notes
Add 3-4 scoops of protein powder or whey protein to the recipe if making it for a pre or post-workout snack. You can skip adding sugar if the strawberries are sweet. You can also replace it with honey or maple syrup. Sugar-free substitutes like monk fruit or stevia also work fine. You can use skim milk instead of whole milk for a healthier version. Non-dairy milk is also great.
