Make this refreshing 5 ingredient frozen strawberry margarita in a blender in under 5 minutes. Serve it for BBQ, potlucks, or summer outdoor parties, it's going to be a hit.
Start by rimming the margarita glasses. Add ½ cup rock salt to a wide plate. Now, cut the lime into half and press it against the rim of the glass. Invert the glass and press it on the salt all around so that the entire rim has a layer of salt on it. Prepare 4 glasses and keep them aside.
Note – Margarita is served in a special margarita glass. If you don’t have it, then serve them in any tall glass.
Wash 1 pound of strawberries and remove the green leafy part of the fruit. Chop the strawberries and freeze them overnight or for 6 to 8 hours in a closed container.
Once the strawberries are frozen, remove them from the freezer and thaw for 5 minutes. Now add them to the medium size jar of a high-speed blender.
Add all the ingredients including ¾ cup tequila, ¼ cup Grand Marnier, ¼ cup lime juice, ¼ cup honey, and 1 cup crushed ice cubes to the jar.
Blend until smooth. Add some water or orange juice if the margarita is too thick.
Add the margarita to the rimmed glasses. Garnish with a lime slice and serve immediately.
Notes
You can use any regular unflavoured tequila for this drink. Tequila Resposado tastes the best when used in this margarita. You can replace Grand Marnierwith Cointreau or triple sec.Sugar or agave nectar can also be used as a sweetener in place of honey. You should serve this drink immediately once made, hence, I advise that you prepare the glasses beforehand so that you can serve this chilled cocktail with a lime wedge at the earliest.Rimming the glasses is optional but highly recommended. If you don’t take alcohol, you can make a non-alcoholic version of this drink. This alcohol-free strawberry margarita will taste as good. Just skip adding the alcohol that is tequila and Grand Marnier and add 1 cup fresh orange juice instead. To make it ahead of time just make the margarita and freeze it in a freezer-safe container until use. The alcohol in the drink will keep the margarita from freezing completely. When you want to serve it again, just quickly blitz in a blender and pour in the rimmed glasses.
