This easy Strawberry Lemonade incorporates the tanginess of lemon with a dash of the sweetness of fresh strawberries, basil, and heaps of crushed ice. Waiting for what? Here is how to make it.
About This Recipe
Strawberry Basil Lemonade is a delicious summer drink that has tanginess of lemon juice, the sweetness of fresh strawberries, a refreshing twist of basil, and heaps of crushed ice.
This 4 ingredient drink is very easy to make and gets ready in less than 20 minutes. You can also make this drink into a cocktail by just adding some white rum or vodka. Interesting, right?
Many people like to add chopped fresh strawberries in their lemonade but I like to puree it along with basil and sugar, to get that perfect sweet, tart, and refreshing flavor.
During the mango and raspberry season, you can also try making Mango Lemonade or Raspberry Lemonade following the same process. All you have to do is substitute strawberry with other fruits.
This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled. You can make it in a pitcher and serve to a crowd.
Strawberry – The hero ingredient of this summer drink is Strawberry, so make sure you get some nice and fresh strawberries as, during summer, the local markets are filled with the juiciest and sweet strawberries. They add that perfect sweet taste to this drink.
Lemon – Another ingredient that adds more flavor to this drink is Lemon. The juice from the lemon gives it a nice tangy taste which adds to the flavor of this lemonade. If lemons are not available, you can use lime juice to make the lemonade. Just keep in mind that limes are tangier than lemons, so adjust the amount of juice accordingly.
Make sure to get the most juice out of lemons, be sure they are at room temperature when you squeeze them. Because if you take out directly from the fridge, they might be a little hard and it will be difficult for you to squeeze out the maximum juice from it.
Basil – To add a little twist to this drink, I have also added fresh basil. Believe me, this ingredient will change the overall taste. If you can’t find fresh basil, you can also use some fresh mint leaves.
Sugar – You can skip the sugar, if the strawberries are sweet enough.
Water Or Soda? I sometimes add water and sometimes substitute it with soda, especially when I am making an alcoholic version of it. But you can always add soda and make a mocktail to serve for your house parties.
You can also freeze the strawberry syrup and squeeze out the fresh lemon juice, whenever you want to make this yummy drink. The frozen strawberry basil puree stays good in an airtight container for about 1-2 months. I am sure even your kids will love it and this one will be a perfect and refreshing drink after their playtime.
