Make this simple 5-ingredient strawberry smoothie to start your day with a power-packed breakfast. This is an easy-to- make recipe that can be made quickly and is healthy.

Smoothies make for a perfect healthy breakfast and are super delicious. You can play with flavors and use seasonal fruits or frozen fruits, as per availability. You can even make a smoothie bowl by adding some granola, mixed seed and fruits.

It is for everyone, be it kids or adults. Also, if you are watching your weight, this is for you. This is a great way to incorporate fruits into your and your kids’ diet. Depending on whether or not strawberries and pineapple are sweet, you can add or avoid honey or sugar to sweeten the smoothie. 

This smoothie is gluten free. You can even make it vegan by replacing yogurt and milk with almond, soy or coconut milk.

Health Benefits of Strawberries

Strawberries are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are good for your heart, help in regulating blood sugar level, boost immunity, known to have anti-cancer properties, regulate blood pressure and aid in weight management. 

The antioxidants and polyphenols in strawberries are good for heart health and prevent cancer. These are good for skin and hair health.

Strawberry Smoothie Ingredients

You will need fresh strawberries, banana, yogurt and milk to make this smoothie. Wash and clean the strawberries.

You will need to hull them to get rid of the green leafy part. There are many ways to hull a strawberry. You can use a huller or a knife to hull them. After hulling the strawberries, pack them in freezer-safe bags and freeze.

Freezing the fruit ensures naturally cold and creamy smoothie. 

Peel the banana and chop them roughly and pack in a freezer-safe bag and freeze. Bananas make the base for the smoothie and are filling. 

Yogurt is a great source of protein and makes the smoothie healthy and nutritious.

You will need some sweetener like honey or maple syrup if you like your smoothie sweet.

Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

To make this homemade smoothie, you will need frozen strawberries, frozen banana, yogurt and milk. Make sure you hull and freeze the strawberries overnight to get the creamy texture.

Using frozen fruits allows you to skip ice and makes the smoothie luscious and naturally cool. If the strawberries are perfectly ripe and sweet, you wouldn’t need to add honey.

This smoothie is sweet, creamy and flavorful. You can choose to add blueberries or pineapple to it, even a little orange juice to get the zesty flavour.

You can even add a spoonful of oats to make it healthier and add some fiber to it. 

Take strawberries, banana and yogurt in a blender. Blend everything until smooth. Add milk and honey, if required, and blend again till you get the right consistency. Serve cold.

How to make Strawberry Smoothie without Yogurt

If you want to make a smoothie but don’t want to use yogurt, don’t fret. You can use low fat milk or light coconut milk. You can even use juice or water as base instead of yogurt.

Variations of Strawberry Smoothie

You can add various fruits like berries, pineapple, cantaloupe, spinach, kale, coconut water, coconut milk or orange juice.

You can also add nuts and nut butter to add a nutty texture.

Replace milk with almond milk, cashew milk or coconut milk to make a vegan smoothie.

To make strawberry smoothie without banana, replace bananas with mango, avocado, oats, chia seeds or silken tofu.

Add cocoa powder to make chocolate strawberry smoothie.

Add flax seeds or chia seeds for a crunch and nutty flavor.

Add beetroot powder, spirulina powder, acai powder etc to make your smoothie healthier.

Some people prefer ice cream shakes over smoothies. Smoothies are made using fruits and can have fresh or frozen fruits. While ice cream shakes utilize flavoured ice cream and milk. If you prefer ice cream shakes, you can replace yogurt with ice cream and blend it with fruits of your choice.

How to make Vegan Strawberry Smoothie?

You can even make it vegan by replacing yogurt with soy curd and milk with almond, soy or coconut milk. Use maple syrup instead of honey to sweeten your smoothie.

How to make Strawberry Smoothie Bowl

To make strawberry smoothie bowl, pour the smoothie in a bowl and top with fresh fruit slices, chia seeds, coconut flakes, granola or oats. You can add nuts or seed mix as well.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 Strawberries Chopped and Frozen
  • 1 Banana Peeled, chopped and frozen
  • 1 cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1.2 cup Milk
  • Honey To taste

Instructions

  1. Add frozen strawberries, banana and yogurt in a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth.

  3. Add milk and blend again.

  4. Serve chilled.
