About Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
Some dressings make you go ‘WOW’ with their first taste. It happened to me when I first ate this salad at Chick-fil-A, which had a creamy texture from Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing. I must say, it was love at the first bite.
It tastes like guacamole, green goddess, and ranch dressing, all in one bite.
But unfortunately, they don’t sell their dressing separately. So when I came back home, I decided to recreate the dressing and in just a few attempts, I got very close.
I am sharing my version of this Chick Fil A Copycat Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing Recipe with you all to try.

Ingredients

Avocado – Ripe avocado adds a perfect creamy texture to the dressing. If the avocado is even very slightly raw, it will taste very bitter. So be very careful while choosing it.
Since you blend the avocado in this recipe, this avocado lime dressing is a great way to use up slightly oxidized or bruised avocados.
Lime Juice & Lime Zest – These two ingredients give the dressing a lovely tang and a refreshing flavor.
Sour Cream & Mayonnaise makes the base of this dressing.
You can use fat-free sour cream or Greek yogurt instead of regular sour cream and mayonnaise to make the dressing healthier.
Garlic – Reduce the amount of garlic if you don’t like the garlicky flavor.
Cilantro – Use fresh cilantro leaves for the best flavor.
Seasonings – To enhance the flavor of the dressing, you will need mixed Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
How To Make Creamy Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
Start by preparing the avocado. Choose a ripe avocado and cut it in half vertically.
Now rotate the two halves in the opposite direction and separate them from each other.

Using a paring knife, remove the seed and discard it.
Now scoop out the avocado flesh using a large spoon and add it to the medium jar of a blender or a food processor.
Add
- ¼ cup lime juice
- 2 teaspoon lime zest
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup cilantro (packed)
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon mixed Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
to the jar and blend to make a smooth dressing. Scrap the sides of the jar a few times while blending.

Add some water if the dressing is thick for your liking.
Check for salt and pepper and add more if needed.
The dressing is ready. Store it in a mason jar and use it as required. Make sure to shake or stir it well before using it.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can use vegan sour cream and mayonnaise instead of regular ones to make it vegan. All other ingredients used in this dressing are vegan-friendly.
To choose a ripe avocado, look for one that is dark in color and slightly soft to the touch. Avoid avocados that are too hard or have any brown or moldy spots. Additionally, give the avocado a gentle squeeze to check for any firmness; a ripe avocado will yield slightly to pressure. If you plan on using the avocado in the next day or two, look for one that is slightly under-ripe, as it will continue to ripen at room temperature.
No, this recipe has sour cream and mayonnaise added; hence it doesn’t qualify for a healthy dressing; it is a super delicious one that I can attest to. To make this dressing healthy, replace sour cream and mayonnaise with low-fat yogurt.
Serving Suggestions
This dressing is super versatile and can be used in many ways. Here are some of my favorites.
It is one of my favorite creamy dressings for salads. It just makes the simple and boring salads so delicious and refreshing. If it looks very thick, thin it out with some water.
You can serve it as a dipping sauce with crackers, tortilla chips, bread, veggie stick, or even your favorite starters and appetizers.
Pour this versatile dressing on tacos, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, burritos, taquitos, and whatnot!
Drizzle this dressing over grilled meats such as chicken, fish, beef, prawns, etc. You can also drizzle it over baked veggies, potato wedges, or french fries.
Storage Suggestions
This dressing will last in the fridge for 3 to 5 days. Store it in a covered mason jar, an airtight container, or a glass bottle. The lime juice will help prevent the avocado from oxidation, but the dressing will eventually turn brown.
Use a clean and dry spoon to take out the dressing every time you use it.
