    About This Recipe

Air Fryer Broccoli is a delicious side dish that can be made in under 10 minutes. The resultant broccoli is tender with crispy edges and made with much less effort than the classic roasted broccoli.

This savory air fryer broccoli is low cal and low carb, so it makes for a healthy side dish if you are watching your weight. And if you follow a vegan and gluten-free diet, you are in for a treat.

I prefer air fryer method of roasting the broccoli over the oven method because

    • It’s faster
    • Doesn’t heat up the house
    • Broccoli comes out very tender with nicely roasted edges.

    This Air Fried Broccoli is,

    • Keto, Paleo, whole 30, vegetarian, vegan, low carb, and low cal
    • Crispy
    • Addictive
    • Healthy
    • Perfect for snacking
    • Apt to serve as a side

    Ingredients

    Air Fryer Broccoli Ingredients.

Broccoli – Use broccoli florets for this recipe. Well, you can include stem too if you want, but this tastes great when only made with florets. make sure to cut the florets into small even-sized pieces.

You can use frozen broccoli as well.

Olive Oil – Use a good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil, it makes a huge difference in the taste. Also, you don’t need a lot of it, just a few tablespoons.

Seasonings – To give this Broccoli a little flavor and taste, you will need garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes. These ingredients add a perfect amount of heat and spiciness to this Broccoli dish.

You can even add fresh minced garlic in this recipe, instead of garlic powder, to add a more prominent garlicky taste. Increase the quantity of red chili flakes, if you like it to be nice and spicy.

Lemon Juice – Squeeze a little lemon juice on the top, for that extra tanginess.

How to make Air Fryer Broccoli?

Start by preparing the broccoli. Wash a medium head (500 g) of broccoli and using a paring knife, chop of the stem. Cut the head into small even-sized pieces. You can cut the stem into small pieces and roast it too.

You can also use frozen broccoli to make this recipe. It will save you some time and effort. If using frozen, then thaw it to room temperature.

Transfer the broccoli florets to a medium size mixing bowl.

    Broccoli cut into small florets.

Add 3 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon chopped garlic, salt to taste, ½ teaspoon freshly cracked pepper, and ½ teaspoon red chili flakes, and toss well. Seasoning the broccoli before roasting helps the flavors to stand out.

    Remaining ingredients added to broccoli.

Transfer the broccoli to the basket of the air fryer. Pour 2 tablespoon of water at the bottom of the air fryer. It helps to keep the broccoli tender. Air fry at 375 degrees F for 4 minutes. Pull the basket out and toss the broccoli. Air fry for another 4 minutes.

Broccoli transferred in the basket of the air fryer.

Cook for another minute or two if you like it crispier. Drizzle 1 tablespoon lemon juice and serve immediately.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make it ahead of time?

Yes, these Air fried Broccoli can be made ahead of time. Once you make it, let it cool down fully and then store it in an airtight container. It will last for about 3-4 days in the refrigerator.

But it won’t be as crispy as the fresh ones, once you heat it again in a pan or in a microwave. If you want it to be crispy, heat it again in an air fryer for about 2 minutes, until warm.

Don’t heat it for longer, otherwise, it will end up getting burnt.

Is broccoli fried in air fryer healthy?

Yes, it is very healthy! It uses very little oil and gives you nice crispy roasted broccoli.

On the other hand, broccoli is loaded with nutrients such as fiber, iron, folate, vitamin C, potassium, and manganese, making it apt for your healthy meals.

Also, this recipe uses olive oil which is loaded with antioxidants and is also rich in vitamin E, and vitamin K. So without any worry, include this air-fried Broccoli for your nutritious meals.

    Variations

Indian Spiced – In this version, you can use seasonings such as fresh crushed garlic, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, black pepper powder, lemon juice, and salt.

You can even add a little sambar masala for that South Indian touch.

Chipotle – For the Chipotle version, mix your broccoli with unsalted butter, garlic, chipotle peppers, honey, salt, and lemon juice before air frying.

Parmesan Cheese – For this one, you can follow the same recipe and just sprinkle some parmesan cheese and mix at the end.

Tempura – Mix together all-purpose flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Next, whisk together eggs and water in another bowl. In the third bowl, stir together Panko and a little oil.

Now dip the Broccoli in flour mixture, then in egg mixture, and lastly in panko mixture to coat. now, air fry them till they are golden brown.
