    About Sour Cream Pasta Sauce

This Sour Cream Pasta Sauce is the easiest and yummiest pasta sauce you can make on a busy day.

It is creamy, needs simple pantry ingredients, and comes together in under 15 minutes.

Once the sauce is ready, all you need to do is to toss in some cooked pasta and sauteed veggies or protein and a quick meal is ready in no time.

Double or triple the recipe for a bigger crowd.

    Ingredients

Sour Cream – I prefer to use my homemade full-fat sour cream, but you can even go for light or fat-free sour cream to cut down on the calories.

Butter – Adds a rich flavor to the sauce. You can use salted or unsalted butter.

Garlic – Use fresh garlic for the best taste.

Flour – It makes the sauce thick and creamy. To make the pasta sauce healthier, replace it with whole wheat flour.

Milk – Use whole milk for a rich and creamy sauce. You can also make it with low-fat or skim milk.

Seasonings – Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and nutmeg powder. Adjust it according to your choice.

You can also add the seasoning of your choice such as Cajun seasoning, mustard, red pepper flakes, paprika, etc for added flavor.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream in pasta sauce?

Yes, you can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream in pasta sauce. Greek yogurt has a similar tangy flavor and creamy consistency, making it a suitable substitute.

    Serving Suggestions

Fettuccine Alfredo: Toss the sauce with freshly cooked fettuccine noodles and top with chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.

Baked Potatoes: Spoon the sauce over a baked potato and sprinkle with bacon bits and chives.

Stuffed Shells: Fill cooked pasta shells with a mixture of ricotta cheese, spinach, and ground beef, and top with the sour cream sauce.

Grilled Chicken: Grill chicken breasts and serve with a dollop of this sauce and a side of roasted vegetables.

Vegetable Pasta Salad: Toss cooked pasta with fresh vegetables like cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers, and dress with sour cream pasta sauce.

Meatball Subs: Top a toasted sub roll with meatballs, marinara sauce, and a generous dollop of pasta sauce.

Seafood Linguine: Serve the sauce over linguine pasta with shrimp or scallops and sprinkle with chopped parsley and lemon zest.

Quesadillas: Spread it on a flour tortilla and add shredded cheese, cooked chicken or beef, and vegetables. Fold in half and cook until crispy.

    Storage Suggestions

This pasta sauce will easily last for 2-3 days when stored in a clean and dry airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in a pan or microwave before serving.

I do not recommend freezing it as its texture may change slightly after thawing.
