About This Recipe

The taste of this drink is not very pleasant, but try to gulp down a shot because the amount of benefits it has is worth that gulp. Also adding a little ginger and black salt add to its taste.

Do not drink more than 10-20 ml of this juice every day, as it has its own side effects too. And also make sure to drink it as soon as you make the juice. Amla gets oxidized very soon and the juice will taste very bitter if not had immediately.

Amla Juice Ingredients

Amla juice ingredients.

Amla – With the onset of winter, you will find the freshest amla in the local markets. So get your hands on them and make this extremely nutritious juice. If you live in the US, you will find gooseberries in any local Indian grocery store.

Amla comes in various sizes. You can use anyone to make the juice. Just make sure that it is greenish-yellow in color and there are no dark patches or cuts on the same. It should be round with vertical stripes and should not be mushy when you softly press it.

Ginger gives a nice flavor to the juice and balances the tartness of the amla.

Black Salt also balances the flavor well.

How To Make Amla Juice

Cut 3-4 amla (gooseberry) into small pieces and discard the seeds.

Tip – To reduce the tartness and bitterness of amla, soak the whole amla in salted water for 1-2 hours.

Chopped amla.

Add the chopped amla, 1 teaspoon chopped ginger, 2 cups of water, and ยฝ teaspoon black salt into the medium jar of a blender and blend until smooth.

All the ingredients added to a blender.
Smooth mixture made.

Pass the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer and discard the pulp. Press the pulp with the back of a spoon to get as much juice as possible.

Juice passed through a mesh strainer.

Amla juice is ready to drink. Pour it into small shot glasses and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

You can consume this juice on an empty stomach in the morning. You can also mix it in other fresh juices that you like, or even mix it with buttermilk.

Drink only 10-20 ml of juice per day, and also drink it immediately as soon as you make it.

Always make a fresh amla juice, as oxidation happens when you keep it for longer.
