This recipe uses 7 simple ingredients – fresh pomegranate, pineapple, banana, strawberries, yogurt, maple syrup, and coconut water.

Freeze the pineapple, banana, and strawberries to make a super creamy smoothie.

You can peel the pomegranates and store the kernels in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks. Use them whenever you are ready to make this pomegranate plunge smoothie recipe.

    Variations

You can skip maple syrup if the sweetness from the fruits is enough for you.

You can replace maple syrup with honey (not vegan). Sugar-free substitutes like stevia or monk fruit also work fine.

To make the smoothie vegan, skip adding yogurt completely or replace dairy yogurt with any vegan yogurt.

Coconut water can be replaced with orange juice, pineapple juice, or apple juice.

You can also add your favorite whey protein powder to it and sip the smoothie as a pre or post-workout snack.

Add seeds like chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, etc to enhance the nutritional value.

Greens like spinach and kale are also a great addition.

Nut butter like peanut butter, almond butter, pistachio butter, etc can also be added.

Other options that you can add to this recipe are – Fresh ginger, turmeric powder, acai berry paste or powder, beetroot powder, etc.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    How to easily peel pomegranates?

Wash the pomegranates and wipe them using a kitchen cloth.
Now cut the pomegranate in half, horizontally using a sharp knife.
Keep a large bowl on the kitchen counter and hold one-half of the pomegranate over the bowl with the cut side down.
Now start to hit the pomegranate using something heavy. I used my rolling pin but you can also use a meat tenderizer. Keep rotating the pomegranate as you go.
The arils will start to fall in the bowl. Keep hitting until all the seeds are collected in the bowl. If a few seeds are still left, then take them out using your fingers.
Discard any white membrane that has fallen into the bowl. The membrane (pith) gives a bitter taste to the juice, so make sure to discard it.
You can deseed the arils and store them in a container and refrigerate them for up to 2 weeks.

    Storage Suggestions

This smoothie tastes the best when made fresh.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight glass container for about a day. Shake it well before consuming.
