Why This Recipe is So Good

    1. Cooking frozen fries in an air fryer is easy, simle and fuss free. Just add the frozen fries to the fryer, spray some oil and they will be ready.
    2. Air fryer frozen french fries are healthier as you need very little oil as compared to frying them in oil.
    3. The fries turns out perfectly crispy, just like the ones you get in a restaurant.
    4. French fries cooked in air fryer takes much lesser time (25 minutes from start to finish), as compared to the deep-fried one. It also doesn’t need a constant watch, as it has almost no chances of getting burnt.
    5. This method cooks the french fries evenly.
    6. It is economical than ordering them out.

    Ingredients

Air fryer frozen french fries ingredients.

Frozen French Fries – Get a bag of your favorite French fries. Classic, crinkle cut, waffle cut, shoestring, or flavored, they all work great.

Oil – Use a cooking spray for this recipe. In case you do not have cooking spray, then apply a little olive oil or vegetable oil with a brush on the fries.

Seasoning – You can select any seasoning of your choice to flavor these french fries up. I have given some options in the post below.

    Pro Tips By Neha

For best result, air fry them in batches, so that they get cooked evenly and come out nice and crispy. You can stir them midway for even cooking.

Toaster oven-style air fryers usually take longer to cook. Increase the time by 4-5 minutes if you are using one of those.

Spray a little oil on the french fries to make them extra crispy. If you don’t have a spray, then apply a little oil on the fries with a brush.

If you are using a larger air fryer, then you can fry a bigger batch at the same time.

Do not overcook the fries otherwise, they will turn hard.

How To Make Air Fryer Frozen French Fries

Transfer 1 lb (500 g) of frozen french fries to the basket of the air fryer.

Frozen fries in the basket of the air fryer.

Spray lightly with oil. I used a 4-quart fryer. If you are using a larger air fryer, you can fry more fries in one batch.

    Fries sprayed with oil.

Close the basket and set the temperature to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Set the timer for 15 minutes.

Once the timer goes off, pull out the basket and season the fries. Toss the fries very well using 2 large spoons or forks to coat them evenly with the seasoning.

    Fries sprinkled with salt .

Put the basket back and set the timer to another 10 minutes. Serve hot.

    Seasoning Options

Taco Seasoning – I used my homemade taco seasoning to season the fries.

Black Pepper – Just season the fries with a little salt and black pepper to keep it simple.

Indian Masala – Spice them up with some of the basic Indian spice powders such as turmeric powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, and salt. Want more tanginess? Squeeze a little lemon juice on top.

Peri Peri – The is a famous seasoning used by many fast-food restaurants. You can either buy a peri peri seasoning from stores or make one at home.

Homemade Peri Peri mix is a mixture of oregano, red chili flakes, red chili powder, garlic powder, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, ginger powder, sugar, and salt.

Garlic and Herbs – Season the fries with some garlic powder and other seasonings such as red chili flakes, oregano, dried thyme, etc.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long to cook fries in an air fryer?

Cooking time needs to be adjusted depending on how crispy you want the fries and how thick they are. It also depends on the brand of the air fryer. I air fry them for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F in my Philips air fryer.
It’s best to make the fries once and find your best time.

Are air fryer french fries healthy?

French fries cooked in an air fryer are healthier than the deep-fried ones or the ones that you get at the restaurants. I suggest eating them in small portions and occasionally.

Do I need to defrost the fries before air frying?

No, you don’t have to defrost the fries before adding them to the air fryer. Just open the bag and dump the fries.

Do I need to add oil to my fries before air frying?

No, it is not compulsory to add oil to the fries before air frying. You can air fry them without oil too. However, they turn out extra crispy with a little spray of oil.

How to reheat the french fries?

Transfer the fries to the basket of the air fryer and air fry at 350 degrees F for 3-4 minutes.

How to make frozen fries in an air fryer with a rotating basket?

Some air fryers like power air fryer pro plus come with a rotating basket. Add the fries to the rotating basket and put the basket in the air fryer. Set the temperature and press the rotisserie button. Cook the fries for 20-25 minutes until crispy. There is not need to take out the basket and toss the fries mid-way.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve these air-fried french fries with ketchup, mayonnaise, or a creamy dipping sauce such as Yum Yum Sauce, Peri Peri Sauce, Boom Boom Sauce, Bang Bang Sauce, Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce, or any other sauce you fancy.

They taste great on the side along with burgers, sandwiches, wraps, Kathi rolls, hot dogs, etc. You can also serve it along with your grilled or roasted meat meals.
