About Nutella Milkshake
This Cafe Style Nutella Milkshake is a delicious recipe made using just 3 simple ingredients – chilled milk, vanilla ice cream, and Nutella. It gets its rich and creamy texture from vanilla ice cream and the chocolaty, nutty flavor from Nutella.
For the uninitiated, Nutella is a popular chocolate hazelnut spread created in Italy in the 1940s. It has a creamy texture and a rich, chocolatey flavor, making it a versatile ingredient in various recipes.
Nutella can be spread on toast, used as a dip for fruit or crackers, incorporated into baked goods like cakes and brownies, or even added to a cup of hot cocoa for an extra indulgent treat.
I use this delicious hazelnut spread to make my Nutella Coffee, Nutella Mousse, Nutella Brownies, and this milkshake.
This ultimate Nutella milkshake recipe is super easy to make and gets ready in under 5 minutes. All you have to do is add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until everything comes together.
It is a great summer beverage for your kids when they want something chilled after their evening outdoor games. It is also an easy treat for the whole family on a hot summer day.
Making it at home is much more economical than having it at your favorite cafe, and when you can make a delicious one at home, why spend those dollars?
This easy Nutella milkshake recipe is vegetarian and gluten-free and can be easily doubled or tripled.

Ingredients

Milk – Use whole milk (full-fat milk) to make a creamy and rich shake. You can also use almond milk or cashew milk for a nuttier flavor.
Nutella – Nutella is easily available at any grocery store near you. You can adjust the amount of Nutella depending on how chocolaty you want the shake to be.
Add Vanilla Ice Cream for sweetness, richness, and creaminess.
When added to the blender, the ice cream should be a little soft (not runny). If it’s too hard, it will not blend properly.
Do not add ice to the milkshake; otherwise, it will water it down, affecting the taste.
How To Make Nutella Milkshake
Freeze 2 tall serving glasses for 30 minutes.

Top with whipped cream, drizzle some chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, and crushed toasted hazelnuts, and serve immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can use a hand mixer or a milk frother if you do not have a blender to make the milkshake. You can also add all the ingredients to an airtight tumbler and shake vigorously until everything comes together.
Unfortunately, this milkshake’s main ingredient, Nutella, is not vegan. And therefore, it is impossible to make a vegan version of this drink. If you still want a vegan version, use any vegan chocolate spread instead of Nutella and blend it with non-dairy milk and vegan ice cream.
To make it healthier, use skim milk, and instead of ice cream, add frozen bananas and frozen vanilla yogurt.
If you have a jar of Nutella with some remaining at the bottom, there’s a great way to use it!
Heat half a cup of milk in a microwave-safe container until it’s warm, but not too hot since the Nutella jar is made of plastic.
Pour the milk into the Nutella jar, secure the cap tightly, and shake it until the Nutella has fully dissolved into the milk.
When making your indulgent Nutella milkshake, mix the Nutella milk with regular milk to get every last drop of that delicious flavor. Don’t let any Nutella go to waste – try this simple and efficient method to enjoy it all!
Variations
Bananas: Adding a ripe banana to the milkshake will give it a creamier texture and add some natural sweetness.
Chocolate: Replace vanilla ice cream with chocolate ice cream and regular milk with chocolate milk if you want the shake to be more chocolaty.
Peanut Butter: A spoonful of peanut butter will complement the hazelnut flavor of the Nutella and add a savory note to the shake.
Espresso: A shot of espresso can transform this Nutella-flavored milkshake into a rich and indulgent mocha drink.
Oreo Cookies: Crushed Oreos will give the milkshake a crunchy texture and add a chocolatey flavor that complements the Nutella.
Vanilla Extract: Adding a dash of vanilla extract to the milkshake will enhance the overall flavor and make it more fragrant.
You can also add strawberries, blueberries, caramel sauce, or dark chocolate sauce to this delicious milkshake recipe.
Use hazelnut ice cream instead of vanilla to enhance the hazelnut flavor even more.
Serving Suggestions
I kept things simple and topped the milkshake with whipped cream and sprinkled some roasted and crushed hazelnuts. A drizzle of chocolate syrup made it very tempting.
You can also rim the glasses with Nutella and crushed hazelnuts or other fun ingredients. Dip the rim into Nutella and press over crushed roasted hazelnuts, chocolate sprinkles, or anything else you think will look cool.
Storage Suggestions
This creamy milkshake tastes the best when made fresh. Ice cream tends to melt when stored, and the milkshake loses its creaminess.
But in case you have leftovers, store them in a glass jar in the fridge and consume them within a day. Do not forget to shake it well before you drink it.
