About Masala Soda
Summers and a glass of Masala Soda, I can’t even tell you how perfect this combination is! A glass of this chilled Indian soft drink will provide you instant relief from that scorching heat outside.
Those of you who don’t know what is masala nimbu soda? It is a carbonated lime and mint-flavored soft drink that comes together in just 5 minutes.
Tangy, spicy, and sweet, this has become a family favorite whenever we need a refreshing and yummy drink during summer.
This is also a great drink to serve your guests instead of a hot cup of tea and coffee in the summer. I am sure your guests will love it.
You will find many street vendors selling masala nimbu soda on the streets of North India during the summer. My recipe tastes very close to the street-style drink.
Nowadays, you get a pre-made masala soda powder in the market, but believe me, there is nothing more refreshing than making it from scratch with fresh ingredients.
This masala soda recipe is vegan and gluten-free and can be easily scaled up.
Ingredients
Mint Leaves – Use fresh mint leaves for the best taste.
Lime Juice – This drink is best made using freshly squeezed lime juice. You can also use lemon juice.
Ginger adds a nice peppery taste to this fizzy drink. In case you do not have fresh ginger, you can add a little dried ginger powder instead.
Sugar – Adjust the sugar as per your taste. You can increase or decrease the quantity of sugar depending on how sweet you want the soda to be. You can also use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar to sweeten your drink.
Club Soda – Top the drink with chilled club soda (soda water) for a nice zing.
Seasonings – To add a little tangy and spicy flavor, you will need Chaat Masala Powder, black salt (kala namak), black pepper powder, and Roasted Cumin Powder.
Variations – Add some kokum juice while making the nimbu masala soda. Add Coca-Cola, 7-up, or Sprite instead of soda water.
