    Bati is a Rajasthani bread made using whole wheat flour. It is served with dal and chutney and loads of ghee and is a delight to eat. Here is how to make Bati Recipe in a traditional Rajasthani style.

    Bati is a traditional Rajasthani dish made with whole wheat flour.
     
    The flour is kneaded along with water and few other ingredients to make a tight dough which is then made into small rounds and baked till cooked from inside.
     
    It was traditionally cooked on the fire made using wood and cow dung fuel giving it a lovely smoky flavor.
     
    Now with times changing and technology taking over, Baati can be made in electric oven or gas top oven.
     
    It is served with panchmel dal, garlic chutney and churma. Bati is a very rich dish as the bati’s are dipped in ghee before serving.
     
    Especially during winter it is a pleasure to savour ghee loaded Rajasthani Bati at home and savouring it.
     
    Trust me when I say that it is very easy to prepare this dish at home as well. Here is the simple recipe to make Rajasthani Bati, do note it down:

    How to make Bati Step by Step

    Mix whole wheat flour, salt, carom seeds and oil in a pan.

    All the ingredients added in a bowl.

    Knead a tight dough using lukewarm water. Keep aside, covered for 30 minutes.

    Tight dough kneaded.

    Divide the dough into 12 equal parts.

    Dough divided in 12 parts.

    Roll each part into a rough ball. Make an indentation in the center of each ball with your thumb.

    Pre heat the oven to 200 degree C. Set the oven on toast mode.

    Bati lined on a baking tray.

    Bake the baatis for 20-25 minutes, till slightly browned. Remove from oven. Dip in ghee.

    Baked until browned.

    Ingredients 

    • 3 cups Whole wheat flour
    • 1 teaspoon Salt
    • 1 tsp Ajwain
    • ½ cup Refined oil
    • Ghee for soaking

    • Mix whole wheat flour, salt, carom seeds and oil in a pan.
    • Knead a tight dough using lukewarm water.
    • Keep aside, covered for 30 minutes.
    • Divide the dough into 12 equal parts.
    • Roll each part into a rough ball.

    Notes

    If you don't have an oven, you can make bati in gas tandoor.
