I enjoy Indian milk teas, such as Masala Chai, Adrak Wali Chai, or Lemongrass Chai, but I can only drink a small cup once a day.
However, I enjoy sipping various green, herbal, or fruit teas throughout the day. I drink them chilled in warmer months and piping hot in fall and winter. This apple and cinnamon tea is my recent favorite. It is a treat to the taste buds with its warm cinnamon flavors and calming effect.
About Apple Cinnamon Tea
Apple Cinnamon Tea is a refreshing beverage that combines the fruity, sweet, and slightly tart flavors of apples with the warm, spicy taste of cinnamon.
Depending on the type of tea used as a base (such as black or green tea), some may also detect a hint of earthiness and mild astringency. The flavor is typically comforting and reminiscent of fall or winter, thanks to the warming cinnamon spice. Enjoy it hot or iced.
Ingredients
Apples – Granny Smith apples are the best for making apple and cinnamon tea. They are tart and slightly sweet, which pairs well with the spiciness of the cinnamon. They also hold up well to boiling and infusing, which is necessary when making tea.
However, you can use any variety of apples that are easily available to you.
Sometimes, I don’t have Granny Smith green apples on hand, and I make this hot drink using sweet apples instead. I add a squeeze of lemon juice to give the tea a tangy taste in this case.
Cinnamon Sticks – Do not use cinnamon powder, as it will seep into the ready tea even after you strain it.
Tea – I used loose black tea, but you can also use black tea bags.
Sweetener – Use any sweetener of your choice. Granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, or sugar-free substitutes are all suitable options.
You can add other warming spices, such as cloves, black pepper, nutmeg, or ginger, for additional flavor complexity. You can also add some orange peel, lemon peel, or calendula petals.
