I still remember the long, hot summers of my childhood when cantaloupe was a staple in our home. My mother would cut it into chilled wedges and serve it as an afternoon treat, its fragrance filling the entire kitchen. Years later, when I moved into my own home, I wanted to enjoy cantaloupe in a new way. That’s when I started pairing it with a banana in a smoothie.
The first time I tried it, I was amazed by how beautifully the mild sweetness of cantaloupe blended with the creaminess of ripe banana. Now, it’s my go-to breakfast when I want something light yet filling, and it’s one of the few smoothies my family asks for again and again.
About Cantaloupe Banana Smoothie
Cantaloupe, also known as muskmelon, is a summer fruit that’s naturally juicy, fragrant, and sweet. When blended with ripe bananas, it creates a silky, luscious smoothie that doesn’t need added sugar.
The mild sweetness of cantaloupe pairs beautifully with the creaminess of banana, and adding a little milk or yogurt makes it even smoother.
I often whip this up for breakfast when I want something light yet filling. This smoothie is a great way to sneak in fruit, especially for kids who aren’t big fans of eating it on its own.
Cantaloupe smoothie comes together in just 5 minutes and can be served for breakfast, a snack, or dessert. You can also make a smoothie bowl by simply adding the smoothie to a bowl and topping it with fruits, seeds, nuts, granola, coconut flakes, and more.
I often peel and cut a cantaloupe and freeze the banana the night before, so that in the morning I just have to add everything to the blender and blend it.
Why You’ll Love This Smoothie
Quick & Easy – Ready in just 5 minutes.
Naturally Sweet – No refined sugar needed.
Customizable – Can be made dairy-free or vegan.
Perfect for All Ages – A refreshing drink everyone will love.
Ingredients
Cantaloupe is the star ingredient of this recipe. Choose a ripe and juicy one.
Banana – Try using frozen bananas in your smoothies for a super-creamy texture, along with subtle flavor and sweetness.
Freezing the bananas is also a great way to keep them for longer, as they tend to turn black and soggy if left out for too long.
Yogurt – Add in some yogurt to make a creamy and thick smoothie. To make it vegan, you can use vegan yogurt.
Orange Juice – I prefer freshly squeezed orange juice, but if oranges are not in season, you can use store-bought orange juice as well.
How To Make Banana Cantaloupe Smoothie
Start by preparing the fruits. Wash the cantaloupe and cut it in half using a sharp knife. You will need one-half to make one glass of smoothie. Remove the seeds using a large spoon and discard them. Peel the cantaloupe’s thick skin and cut it into cubes.
Peel a large banana and slice it. Freeze it for 3-4 hours.
Juice a fresh orange. You can also use canned juice.
Add the following ingredients to a high-speed blender jar.
- 1 cup peeled and cubed cantaloupe
- ยฝ cup peeled, sliced, and frozen banana
- 2 tablespoon yogurt
- ยผ cup orange juice

Blend until smooth.
Add some more juice if the smoothie is too thick for your liking. Check for the sweetness. If the smoothie isn’t sweet enough to your taste, add some honey or sugar and blend once more.
Pour the smoothie into a serving glass and serve immediately. You can add a few ice cubes to each glass to keep the smoothie chilled for a longer time.

Variations
You can also add other fruits, such as strawberries or other berries, or even greens like spinach and kale, to make it even more filling.
Chia, flax, and hemp seeds can also be added.
Storage Suggestions
You can refrigerate the leftover smoothie in an airtight glass jar for up to 24 hours. Stir well before drinking.
You can also freeze it for upto a month. I like to freeze it in popsicle molds for a fun treat.
