    About Passion Fruit Juice

Learn how to make refreshing Passion Fruit Juice at home in 5 minutes with my easy recipe.

This passion fruit drink is loaded with tropical flavors and refreshing to sip on hot summer days.

To make this tropical juice, the fruit pulp is blended with sugar and water, and the juice is strained through a fine-mesh strainer to remove the seeds.

Know that the passion fruit seeds are edible, but they won’t feel great while sipping the juice, and hence, I prefer straining the liquid.

It is vegan, needs basic pantry ingredients, and can be customized to your taste. If the fruits are too tart, add more sugar; if they are sweet, reduce the sugar. You can add more or less water to thin down the juice.

Homemade juice is also free of artificial stabilizers, synthetic vitamins, and chemical colors.

My passion fruit juice recipe serves 2 people, but you can double or triple the recipe to make for a bigger crowd.

    Passionfruit Health Benefits

Passion fruit is also known as pro-vitamin A, as it transforms into Vitamin A in the liver.

It is rich in antioxidants and prevents tumors, coronary illnesses, and hypertension.

It is also fiber-rich, regulates the digestive system, and keeps the gut healthy. Passion fruit also avoids constipation and bowel disorders.

It also has a low glycemic index, which means it will not increase your blood sugar levels after consuming it.

It is rich in Vitamin C and boosts your immune system.

Consuming passion fruit also supports your heart health.

    Ingredients

    Passion fruit juice ingredients.

Passion Fruits – It is a tropical fruit that comes in two main varieties: purple passion fruit and yellow passion fruit.

Both types have tough outer skin, crunchy black seeds, and a soft, juicy interior with an exotic flavor that is both sweet and tart.

It’s a versatile fruit that can be eaten fresh or used in various recipes, such as juices, smoothies, cocktails, and desserts.

Select the fruits that are ripe and heavy for their size. This means they will have more pulp in them.

One fruit should yield around 2-3 tablespoons of pulp. You will need 5-6 fruits to make this drink for 2-3 people.

Sugar – Making it at home allows you to add sugar as per your taste. So, adjust the quantity accordingly.

You can also add a few mint leaves and black salt to this juice.

Where To Buy Passion Fruit From

Many supermarkets carry fresh passion fruit in their produce section. Check your local grocery store first to see if they have it.

Specialty markets like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Asian grocery stores may also carry it.

You can also purchase passionfruit online from retailers like Amazon, Melissa’s Produce, and Miami Fruit.

Check your local farmer’s market to see if any vendor sells fresh passion fruit.

Some specialty fruit suppliers, like Frieda’s Specialty Produce, Rincon Tropics, etc., sell online and ship directly to your home.

Remember that the availability of passionfruit may vary depending on your location and the season, so it’s always a good idea to call ahead or check online before you head out to buy it.

How To Make Passion Fruit Juice

Add 1 cup of passion fruit pulp, 1 and ½ cups of chilled water, and 2 tablespoon sugar to a blender jar or a food processor.

Passion fruits pulp, water and sugar added to a blender.

    Blend for 30-40 seconds.

    Blended juice.

Pass the juice through a fine-mesh strainer. Press the pulp to get as much juice as possible, then discard the leftover pulp.

Pour the juice into 2 glasses over ice cubes. Serve chilled.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How to take out the pulp of passion fruit?

Cut the fruit in half with a sharp knife. Use a spoon to scoop out the pulp from each half of the fruit. Scrape the inside of the fruit shell with the spoon to remove any remaining pulp.
Discard the seeds and use the pulp as desired.
Note that passion fruit pulp can stain clothing and countertops, so it’s a good idea to work over a cutting board or bowl and to wear an apron or old clothes.

Can I use frozen passion fruit puree to make the juice?

Yes, you can use frozen puree to make juice. Frozen puree can be a convenient alternative to fresh passion fruit if unavailable or in season. Ensure to use unsweetened frozen puree, free of preservatives and other ingredients.

What else can be added to passionfruit juice?

Other fruit juices: You can mix it with other fruit juices, like orange juice, pineapple juice, or mango juice, to create a tropical fruit blend.

Sweeteners: If the juice is too tart, you can sweeten it with honey, agave syrup, or sugar. You can also use sugar-free substitutes like stevia or monk fruit.

Herbs and spices: Add a few sprigs of mint or basil or a dash of cinnamon or ginger to give the juice a subtle, refreshing flavor.

Carbonated water: Mix it with carbonated water or soda for a refreshing twist.

Alcohol: You can also turn passionfruit juice into a cocktail by adding rum, vodka, or tequila.

Coconut milk: Adding coconut milk to this juice can create a creamy, tropical flavor.

    Storage Suggestions

This juice tastes the best when served fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

You can also freeze the juice. Frozen passionfruit juice can last up to 6 months. Freeze in small portions for easier thawing.
