About this recipe
It is a delicious and nutritious combination of fresh strawberries, milk, sugar, strawberry ice cream and vanilla extract.
Creamy and thick, this smoothie will surely be your favourite in this Summer because of its refreshing taste and cooling effect.
If you don’t have fresh strawberries, you can use frozen strawberries too, to make this shake.
I sometime skip the strawberry ice cream and make it just with milk, when I am making it for my breakfast. But, the ice cream gives it a nice texture and even enhances the flavour.
How to choose strawberries to make Milkshake?
It is easy to choose strawberries for this milkshake. Choose bright red and ripe strawberries that are fresh and sweet.
Make sure they are red or pink in the middle and not white. Bright red ones have the best flavor and are sweet.
If strawberries are not in season, use frozen ones like I do. Or take a little secret from me, strawberry jam works like a charm to make this shake too and so does strawberry syrup.
They cannot compare the taste of fresh strawberries but in case you do not have access to fresh one, try using the jam or syrup.
For any dish, it’s important that you choose the right ingredients.
If you are making something with fruits, try and use fresh and best quality fruits, if they are seasonally available.
Fresh Strawberry: Now that it is strawberry season, I have used fresh strawberries.
While choosing strawberries for milkshakes and smoothies, make sure you choose bright red and ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
Strawberry Ice cream: I have used strawberry ice cream. You can even use vanilla ice cream if strawberry ice cream isn’t available.
Also, to make it healthier, you can skip ice cream and use ice cubes instead.
Full fat milk: Full fat milk will make your milkshake creamier and filling. You can choose to use skimmed milk if you want to.
To make this delicious treat, you are going to need fresh strawberries, strawberry ice cream, vanilla extract, sugar and full fat milk.
To get the creamier texture, you will need a little prep work, which isn’t going to take much time.
First, wash and clean strawberries to get rid of any dirt and pat them dry. Once dried, chop the strawberries into small pieces.
Now mix it with 2 tbsp of granulated sugar and freeze them for a few hours.
Also, freeze the serving glasses for a few hours. This will help you keep your milkshake cold for a long time.
Once you are ready to make and serve the milkshake, take the strawberry-sugar mix out of the freezer and transfer to a blender.
Add strawberry ice cream and vanilla extract to the strawberry-sugar mix and blend until smooth.
Now add a cup of milk and blend properly. You can also add more milk or less milk depending on the consistency of the milkshake that you prefer.
Once done, pour the milkshake in chilled glasses. Serve immediately.
How to make it without Ice Cream?
To make strawberry milkshake without ice cream, skip ice cream and use some ice cubes and freeze the fruit overnight to get a creamier and smoother milkshake.
You will need to increase the quantity of the fruit and milk, depending on the consistency you like. You can also add a frozen banana in place of ice cream.
