Ingredients
This recipe uses seven wholesome ingredients: fresh pomegranate kernels, pineapple, banana, strawberries, yogurt, maple syrup, and coconut water.
I freeze the pineapple, banana, and strawberries to make a super creamy smoothie.
Use plain yogurt, vanilla yogurt, or Greek yogurt.
You can peel the pomegranates and store the kernels in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks. Use them whenever you are ready to make this pomegranate plunge smoothie recipe.
How To Make Pomegranate Plunge Smoothie
Place 1 cup of pomegranate seeds in the jar of a powerful blender and blend for 30-40 seconds until mostly liquified.

Note: If you don’t like small pieces of pomegranate seeds in your mouth, you can strain the juice through a fine mesh strainer at this stage. You can also replace pomegranate seeds with ยฝ cup of pomegranate juice and use it in the recipe.
Add the following ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 1 large frozen banana
- 5-6 frozen strawberries
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- ยฝ cup coconut water
Tip – If the frozen fruits are too hard, then thaw them for 10 minutes.

Add some more coconut water if the smoothie is too thick. Check for the sweetness and add more sweetener if needed.
Pour the smoothie into serving glasses and serve immediately.

Variations
You can skip maple syrup if the sweetness from the fruits is enough for you.
You can replace maple syrup with honey (not vegan). Sugar-free substitutes like stevia or monk fruit also work fine.
To make this tropical smoothie recipe vegan, skip adding yogurt completely or replace dairy yogurt with any vegan yogurt, such as coconut yogurt, cashew yogurt, etc.
Coconut water can be replaced with orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, or apple juice.
You can also add your favorite whey protein powder and sip the smoothie as a pre or post-workout snack.
Add chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, etc, to enhance the nutritional value.
Greens like spinach and kale are also a great addition.
Nut butter, such as peanut butter, almond butter, pistachio butter, etc., can also be added.
You can add fresh ginger, turmeric powder, acai berry paste or powder, and beetroot powder to this recipe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Wash the pomegranates and wipe them using a kitchen cloth.
Now, cut the pomegranate in half, horizontally, using a sharp knife.
Keep a large bowl on the kitchen counter and hold half the pomegranate over the bowl with the cut side down.
Now, start hitting the pomegranate with something heavy. I used my rolling pin, but you can also use a meat tenderizer. Keep rotating the pomegranate as you go.
The arils will start to fall into the bowl. Keep hitting until all the seeds are collected in the bowl. If a few seeds are still left, remove them using your fingers.
Discard any white membrane that has fallen into the bowl. The membrane (pith) gives the juice a bitter taste, so it must be discarded.
You can deseed the arils, store them in a container, and refrigerate them for up to 2 weeks.
Storage Suggestions
You can store the leftover smoothie in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Stir well before serving.
You can also freeze it for up to a month. Thaw, stir well, and serve.
